Low. But that doesn't mean we're not pulling for him.

I'd say slim to none, unfortunately. Malik Allen is playing really good ball, and our injuries surely don't help.

A recent Net practice was just televised on NBATV. He looked a little lost. Not so much lost as overwhelmed, if you catch me. But this is his first NBA training camp, he's just a rookie. I don't think he'll make the team, but don't misread me--we totally love him here. The best scenario for him is that they cut him on the last day of camp, so he can get the most out of the experience, and then goes to the D league. I could see him getting a few ten-day contracts later in the season.

I'd be all for that. I hope he's shows the coaches that he belongs with the team.

I dunno, I'd feel bad if we kept him tied down even if he didn't have a shot

i think every nets fan wants rod to make the team, but i think we all know he wont. who is he going to beat out? its not like frank loves to play rookies anyway. now if we could get rid of mile, which obviously we cant or houston probably woulda came here, then i would hope he can make the team. i am pulling for rod more than anyone, but basketball wise malik is just better for us at this point and a better player for frank. hopefully this exposure will get rod an invite to another team

He should try making a team like the Blazers (if they have any more room..) --a young team, who could use a young big man with some potential.

well, judging by just that one practice, we didn't see that much Benson in action, and perhaps not in the top of his game. That's not to say other practices were equal, better or worse, we can't tell. But, who knows, he may prove himself in the pre-season games, someone like Allen may go down with an injury...we won't know till the end of the month!

It's actually his 2nd he spent last year's with the Wizards and played all season in the DLeague. I think someone out there will invest a roster spot and DLeague him. But it's not with the nets, the Nets are built to win now and Benson won't help much.

Hm...that got me thinking.. I wonder if there'd be a spot for Benson here down the road, maybe a year or two. That'd be cool.

You mean when Illic's contract wears out? Perhaps. If he was good enough to look at seriously now, then why not in a year or two? Other than Illic, I'd say all of our big men are Nets for the long haul (or until Malik retires)

But Magloire has a 1 year contract. So there's the possibility that maybe he'll suck for us, or maybe he'll decide to go to another team...that could open up a roster spot next year. Along with Ilic leaving.

Magloire and Ilic should be out by next year, and we will be collecting more minimum contract players of which Benson could be one. Looking at next year barring a trade, we have Collins, Krstic, Boone, SWilliams, by the sounds of it possibly Malik Allen, but he might play himself out of our price range. So adding Benson next year could be a reasonable option, but I only see it if Boone and Williams give us a good idea that they are reliable backup bigs at worst. We also lose Robinson, giving us some flexibility roster space wise, but we'll be right at the tax with Krstic's contract. So I can see a few more younger cheaper bodies at the end of the bench next year.

The Blazers have Oden, Aldridge, Frye and McRoberts. That is the last team Benson should try to make.

Ah, yes, but I was thinking about the fact that Oden is injured...and then I realized they still have LaFrentz and Przbilla.

Why not the Lakers, other than Odom, their big men are pretty much poop. Or GS, other than Biedrins, they don't have exactly top notch big men. Maybe Cleveland, without Varajeo...and if Simmons doesn't work for them. Might as well add Orlando to that list, with injured big man Tony Battie.

More than likely, though, he'll just go to the D-League.

Whoa whoa whoa! Since when have we already labled Magloire a bust!? Guys we've seen ONE nba practice in which they didn't run a lot of post-up plays.

Give him at least the preseason

Don't know if we will have the cash to pay him what he wants next year. This is a big year for us in terms of finding that big, we have a pair in Williams and Boone to look at.

Magloire won't be resigned. If he experiences the "Kidd effect," he'll want a large raise, and Rod will be willing to turn to another underused center for a one-year contract. Also, I suspect that Boone and Sean will be closer to playing significant minutes. If he DOESN'T experience the "Kidd effect," well, he won't be coming back, either.

I understand that usually, he sucks at the beginning of the season and gets better towards the end of the reg. season. Which isn't entirely bad, we'd rather it that way then him starting out good, and ending up sucking towards the end. So I'm giving him until All-Star break to start producing real good for us.

But all that I was saying that there's the possibility that he'll suck, or that he'll find a better contract elsewhere. Just listing a couple conditions in which he wouldn't get re-signed.
