Was this game even on TV???

While I am sure that this game was by no-means close I think it is encouraging to see that we shot 52% from the field and Scola made 8-10 FGs and Alson 5-6 FGs. I know teams ususally run into a lot of problems of playing down to thier competition and playing sloppy. We had 21 turnovers.

    Re: NBA: PANATHINAI at HOUSTON

It was on TV. It's hard to really judge things, playing against a Euroleague team that's not used to NBA rules.

Rafer had another good game. Scola looked even better than in his first game. Steve got going a little, but still managed to commit 4 turnovers in 20 minutes. Chuck played poorly. Aaron Brooks got some playing time, but his jumper was way off (maybe nerves, but I hear he hasn't been shooting well in training camp either). Yao played great, and was more of a force around the basket than he was in the last game. Mike James was aggressive trying to get to the rim (some may say he was a bit too aggressive).

The passing and cutting didn't seem as crisp in this game as it was in the first quarter against NO. And, as I said before, it's hard to really judge the defense because we weren't playing a real NBA team.

    Re: NBA: PANATHINAI at HOUSTON

Well, the greek team seemed very frustrated with the rules. They were calling the game pretty tightly from the getgo. I kinda want to see what the score would be like if we played with Euroleague rules.

Alston seems very comfortable with this new offense. Even more comfortable than before, when he was forced to take bad shots sometimes. I don't know whos going to get cut though as of now. A week ago, I would have said Mike Harris would be one of the ones cut, but damn, he's very impressive. I still think they are going to cut him anyways though.

Scola is amazing. Its quite a rarity to see the Rockets running fast breaks with the power forward finishing. He just needs to get used to the NBA, and stop the "stupid" little stuff. That can be easily corrected quickly though.

Is it me, or does Shane Battier seem to have developed a rough edge? He seems more physical than before.

I just watched two quarters of it as a replay on TV and I have to say, I am really impressed by Scola's soft touch and shooting ability.

I noticed that too. He's been more active on the boards. And I've noticed a bit of scowl on his face after some contact.
