Could the 08-09 have a new generation of Lakers with what Buss said about Kobe and assuming that Kobe isn’t untouchable anymore and with Phils contract in its final year could the 08-09 season be a new lakers.I was just wondering because if Lakers trade Kobe then the Lakers don’t plan on winning soon and if that happens then there’s reason in keeping Phil if we are just going to have losing seasons. The only good thing that might be in the Lakers future is a combo of Crittenton and Bynum maybe Farmar too and maybe some other guys we get in a trade.08-09 a new generation of Lakers?

It would depend on who the new lakers are (in trade for Kobe) and whether PJax wants the challenge of rebuilding under whatever the circumstances are.

I see a Kobe trade for either a couple of young budding stars (plus...) or for expiring contracts. In the former case, a more balanced lineup and filling in the holes might help the lakers advance further than in previous seasons. In the latter case, it could be several years of tanking for lotto picks.

PJax could unequivocably be called the greatest coach in NBA history if he did take a team and rebuild from scratch to champion. That would be his motivation.

If they trade him early enough they could get a great draft pick to go along with the talented youth.

I see a new coaching change if Bryant does leave. Pjax probably doesn't have the patience nor the strength for rebuilding processs. If Bryant leave, this will be more work than it was when Shaq was traded. With a lackluster front office and worthless talent the Lakers can be stuck for a good while.

It's LA, they can afford both contracts. Kobe for Shaq, make it happen lol, Kobe to the Heat would be the sh*t. But looking back on what the Lakers did...they would trade Kobe for Ricky Davis.
