Tough Road For Houston

Oct 12 - Isiah Thomas admitted that Allan Houston is "behind" and that it will be difficult for him to make the roster. The Knicks currently have 15 players with guaranteed contracts, not including second-round pick Demetris Nichols. In all likelihood, Nichols will be released, but in order for Houston to make the team, Thomas would have to clear another roster spot.

"I don't have any preconceived thoughts on trying to keep an open mind," Thomas said. "I want to go see what I see and not necessarily see what I hear. I want to have a pretty open mind and be able to see what I see and not be persuaded by what I hear." -- New York Daily News

As reports have suggested, Isiah clearly isn't very enthusiastic about the return of Allan Houston. I think it would be stupid to keep a washed up 37-year-old over a young sharpshooter like Demetris Nichols. I hope they make the right decision and keep Nichols around.

I never thought Isiah was fond of Houston, anyway. I think he just signed him for "respect".

I'd rather keep both Nichols and Houston though and get rid of Jerome James.

Definitely agree with you...I'm flip flopping so much on Nichols with the Knicks. I'm thinking maybe I could go to NY and actually catch a game with him. Then I realize I'm not a fan of the Knicks at all, and that I'd rather see him on a different team. Then, I'm thinking I could catch him on TV alot...so now I don't really care what team he makes, as long as he gets some PT.

I thought that the signing of Houston was to get rid of Jones?Anyways I think that Houston might be left out of the team because of his age and that thr Knicks will be stupid to leave out Nichols and take a 37 year old player.
