There are many smells in an arena before a basketball game. Popcorn, stale beer, cotton candy, sometimes nachos or something getting grilled. Tonight's smell in Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena? Dead, rotting, nasty, rancid seafood. And of course, it was conveniently located right by the Pistons bench. I think the smell was coming from a suite in the first level of the arena, and the nastiness wafted down to the floor. I didn't exactly bother to investigate the source. Being 100 feet away was enough to knock me over. I didn't pack the HazMat suit for dead fish CSI.

It was funny watching the Pistons warm up and crinkle their noses at the smell. Even Flip Saunders made a little joke about it, reminding us that we're close to Lake Erie. But the last time I checked, most of the fish were actually alive in Lake Erie. By gametime the fishy smell was gone. Thank God. That was definitely some sushi to be avoided [IMG]
