Seven offensive boards . . . does anyone know how many times a Net had seven ORs in a game last year, including preseason and the playoffs?
Here's a hint: ZERO.
By my count, on five occassions (including preseason), a Net had six offensive rebounds--and had five just six times. No one had more than that. Each of the six-rebound performances took place in a minimum of 30 minutes of play (Kidd, in the preseason did it in 30 . . . Krstic did it in 34, no one else in lesss than 37). Boone had his seven in 33 minutes. Yes, it is just preseason, but . . .still . . .I don't know when the last time a Net accomplished that, and I don't feel like checking the prior year's stats.
Incidentally, Boone was one of the players that pulled down five offensive rebounds in a game last year . . . . and he did it in just 16 minutes. I'm expecting big things from him this season.

The 11 boards jumped out at me, too, especially given the court time. He did look much stronger in practice the other day than he looked last year. Here's hoping he expands on the roll game he showed last year and gains even more confidence around the rim.

I've been a big Boone fan since day 1. In fact, some even call me #2_JOSH_BOONE_FAN.

http://www.basketballforum.com/3711075-post9.html
http://www.basketballforum.com/3630581-post5.html
http://www.basketballforum.com/3631243-post12.html
http://www.basketballforum.com/3639080-post3.html
http://www.basketballforum.com/3658861-post13.html
http://www.basketballforum.com/3788494-post2.html
http://www.basketballforum.com/3788526-post4.html

Josh Boone work his ass off so hard this offseason, he hasn't won the respect from his teammates, but Sean has, so he is proving that he is a good inside force.
Let's expect the power of Josh Boone, and Sean Williams. The violent two brothers, if we play them together, they are good rebounding, blocking, and defense duo.

I've discovered that Krstic had eight offensive boards in a game in April, 2006.
I'd respond to that chocolate guy, but I don't know who he is. Is he a new poster, or someone who changed his handle?

lol I love how you get progressively more down on boooooooooooooone, enough to come flat out and say you hate him. hahaha, well he's still ugly I will say that.
I actually was impressed by his stat line tonight but not surprised, I've got a lot of faith in the kid after what he showed last year. Also has Boone said it himself, he never had the benefit of getting training camp or the preseason in last year.

It's true that most of the talk out of camp has been Sean, Darrell, or attention towards Magloire and Krstic. Thats especially interesting since being right on that edge between a fringe player and impact player, he's got the most to prove.

QUOTE (jarkid)

We should play this this:
Krstic - Collins
Sean- Boone
Magloire - Malik

In each of those situations you've got a more active, dynamic player paired with a more solid guy so who knows thats very possible. I wanna see more out of Magloire, but thursday was a great day for him. Sean + Boone has the chance to be very exciting, assuming Sean can 1) show up on time and 2) get a better feel for the court.

Alot of epople forget how good Josh Boone can be. He was a key member of a National Championship team as a freshman and Defensive Player of the Year in the Big East as a sophomore. He has a lot of potental. I'm really, really high on him this season.

I'd advocate Collins playing all his time with either Allen or Krstic. Putting either Williams or Boone with Collins is unecessarily restricting the offensive options in the frontcourt, and putting Magloire with him is a recipe for disaster in most situations. Pair Collins with a big that can score, especially away from the hoop. I also think any of Allen, Krstic, or Magloire should be the complement to either of the young guys, though seeing Williams and Boone together could be interesting in terms of defense and fast breaking.

i was a fan of drafting boone for the simple fact that i thought he would come in right away and just clean up the boards and give us some second chance points. the injury was a huge factor in his rookie season because he didnt show flashes until the end of last year. i hope he stays healthy so he can really contribute all year. i also hope that we run more pick and rolls with him. vince and boone would work it great and boone would have amazing games then all the sudden we didnt look for boone anymore. i didnt get it. im not talking about looking for him with the game on the line, but take advantage of his athletic ability more this year please.

Physically, he's fine.
He's got legit size and he's a decent athlete. He has a nose for the ball.
What I don't understand is why he always looks so lost. He's an intelligent guy. He shouldn't be so confused. At times last year it was like he never played basketball before. He just never seemed to know where to be and who his man was.
He also needs to be MUCH better conditioned. He has no definition. He's as smooth as a seal. Jason Collins is more cut than he is. His build is strong. There's no reason he should always look so tired. He gets a lot of fouls called on him because he is too slow to get into the right position. This shouldn't be the case. He's not slow. He needs to be in shape.
He's also a very chill, laid back dude. That isn't going to change. He looks half asleep sometimes. He needs to get his motor running. He isn't talented enough to act like Vince Carter and succeed. He has to be moving, banging and causing havoc. Being passive is the opposite of what he needs to do to help the team win.
Sean Williams is everything Boone is not. That means Josh has to step it up big time to avoid being passed on the depth chart. I think Boone has a great opportunity to get minutes because he is such a good rebounder. Other than Magloire - who moves like a glacier - Boone is the only plus rebounder among the Nets' big men. That means he's going to get on the court if he wants it bad enough.
Let's see what develops.

Never a fan of the Boone drafting...but that's probably more because of the fact that I'm a Syracuse fan and UConn hater, than because of the player he is.
If he keeps producing like this, tho, I guess you could just call me #3_Josh_Boone_Fan.

Was anyone at the Nets practice facility last year when he and Marcus were drafted? If so you might have seen a disappointed GMJ drop to his knees in the middle of the crowd when the Boone pick was announced, yelling how we should have drafted Alexander Johnson. I'm an idiot.

Never liked him in college, but I'm sure turning my opinion on him. If he develops to be aggressive on the offensive end...I'll have his kids.

In the games that he played well, it seemed like he was involved A LOT. In other games he would be out there for minutes at a time before doing anything, and end up just not contributing at all.
