We all know this coaching staff is good at developing bigs. Nenad, Boone, and hopefully Sean Williams are making good strides. Heck, Jason Collins is still in the league--and a starter, no less- so that has to say something. I give all the credit in the world to Bill Cartwright's coaching for that, but..[/quote]

I'd say that they have done an incredibly poor job developing bigs. It's consistently the weakness of the team. Even their biggest success - Krstic - has a ton of holes in his game and I don't believe has ever been properly used. He has tons of potential as a post player and a passer, but he has mainly been used as a mid-range shooter on the pick and pop. That's not development, it's just giving him a role that he can fill.

So your point here is that his injuries haven't hindered his development as much as the coaching staff? That's complete speculation on your part.

I KNOW the injuries have been a huge problem. I don't see any evidence that he hasn't gotten what he needs from the coaching staff.

Frankly, it's an oddball view. I have never seen anyone around the team even suggest it.

I agree with this to an extent. I think Wright can handle more responsibility and his work on the defensive end should be earning him more time. Frank constantly asks for it, and Wright should be rewarded for doing what the coach asks.

I don't buy all the psychological stuff, though. It's part of his job to be ready at all times. If he can't stay mentally focused, it's nobody's fault but his own.

Until Boki becomes a complete player, he's not any kind of developmental success story. His defense is still way below par. He forced Frank to play zone far more than should be necessary with an athlete of his quality. Right now, he's still a role player. If he's relied on to play starter's minutes, he'll actually be a detriment, much like Mikki Moore last year.

None of this has anything to do with developing swingmen.

Bernard Robinson and Hassan Adams are not prospects. They are fringe NBA players.

I think the Nets have a pretty good coaching staff. They have had to carry the front office over the last three seasons and make a lot of adjustments they would have preferred not to make.

Hopefully guys like the Williamses, Boone, Wright and Nachbar will turn things around and make everyone in the organization look good.

I'm sceptical about that, but I'm rooting like heck that it will happen.
