Helen Cox center Greg Monroe, rated by many to be the nation's top senior prep basketball prospect, committed to Georgetown and Coach John Thompson III on Saturday morning.

Monroe concluded his official visit to the Hoyas' campus in Washington, D.C., by committing to the Big East Conference champions.

The announcement by Monroe, a Parade Magazine All-American and Louisiana's Mr. Basketball as a junior, came shortly before Monroe and his mother, Norma, flew home to New Orleans after a three-day visit to the nation's capital

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a big Georgetown fan, have been for about 5 years, and this just pumps me up. I knew we were heavily in the running, but what a relief it is to come home from work and see that he's going to be a Hoya. Wow, just wow.

Huge commit for Georgetown and good desicison by Monroe. Thompson knows a little something about coaching and developing big men. I would say this is a very good fit for both sides.
