Evening chaps, I'm nearly 17 (March) and i'm currently looking for my first Motor.
I've narrowed it down to these. My Parents are paying for the car and i am paying for the insurance.
pug 106 Quiksilver
Saxo vts
clio
Civic EK

Renault or Citroën are ok, why don't you save money and buy a SMARTcar?

http://www.smartusa.com/

I can't believe this car is coming to the US now. lol

The BMW 1 Series is designed for more budget-concious buyers, or University students who have an i-banking internship and are yuppies in the making. You know who you are.

Look for reliability and mileage. Volkswagons sometimes have problems with their electrical systems, you might get unlucky.

A bike will save you some gas, and give you some extra exercise. If you don't gotta travel too far normally, it'd be a good idea.

Better late than never, I'd go for the Civic. Damn hard to say anything bad about a car that never breaks down.
I think I had a Clio once as a rental, and don't remember anything awful about it, just that it was your typical tiny European style car and I felt sure a strong gust of wind would blow it over.
Last time I was there I drove one of those little sub-Golf sized VWs (I forgot what they're called) and it was indeed nice, but VW seems to have major reliability problems these days.
