The belief that a cosmic jewish zombie, who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-women was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...yeah, makes perfect sense.

Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed and decide to take the frustration of your existance out on others by attacking their beliefs? I've noticed that you have offered anything better. By the way, zombie isn't an accurate analogy. Christians don't think that Jesus was living dead. We believe Jesus is resurrected from the dead. Still, this is America and the great thing is that you can believe what you want and I can believe what I want. Got anything else you need to get off your chest?

If I want to pray to little baby Jesus or Zombie Jesus that's my business.

If I die and nothing happens then I haven't really lost much. I'm sure I could have been a bigger dick than I was to people but it's good to be nice. However, if I die and go to hell because I didn't recieve my zombie soul cleansing than I bet I'll feel pretty dumb.

Faith is a beautiful thing and it's a big non-phyiscal difference between animals and us. Then again, I can't prove that a dog doesn't think it's master is God or that is has its' own belief system but at the very least our places of worship are cooler.

You could say any religion is stupid, but it's all about belief/faith.

Get some religious tolerance or STFU.

I never really thought of religion making sense. It is a faith. I'm Jewish, but I don't believe in God, or faith. Mainly because I think to be religious, you do everything that the religion preaches, not what is convenient. That happens around me, so I gave it up.

"Jewish" can kind of be considered a cultural group, since the religion is so intertwined with ethnicity/heritage.

That dude's post was beyond ignorant, but "Zombie Jesus" is a wicked term.

pretty awesome. I'm a Christian, but I believe alot of the things catholicism does is a tad bit ridiculous IMO. Such as the "whore" mary magdalene, the idea of "hell", the idea that having sex before marriage is terribly bad, and the idea behind Adam & Eve and the creation of Earth.

I'll agree that some of the things in Catholicism and Christianity do sound pretty ridiculous, but that's just my belief...everyone has their own belief. And it's not right to go on a tirade and call out people of different religions just because you don't like it. Don't believe it if you don't want to, but some people actually do care about this kinda thing and take it pretty seriously. The only thing this does is piss people off.

Its just funny, people make fun of Tom Cruise and Scientology for being so outlandish, yeah Christianity (or any other religion for that fact) arent any more feasible.DDRickyDD summed it up pretty nicely. I can respect peoples beliefs, but that doesnt change the fact you're an idiot.

I don't think people make fun of Tom Cruise because of what he believes in, it's because he's a giant douche and he does weird things.

If a Jew jumped on Oprah's coach, would they not get made fun of?

Also, most religions are thousands of years old, where as Scientology was thought up last weekend. I've been to a Scientology church meeting, it was pretty normal. However, my church never made me pay anything (they pass around plate and I'll throw in a couple of bucks). It was advised that to me by my Scientology church friends that I buy about $80 worth of books to read to get started, after I finished those ones I could purchase the books that cost over $100 each.

Also, because most spiritual practices are ancient rituals they exist in an absence of technology. This is not the case with Scientology. After the service I was invited to watch everyone get their levels read, I wasn't 'experienced' enough in the ways of the church to have mine read yet but imagine a big room with of bunch of church style tables with pairs of people sitting across from each other. One person is fiddling with a machine that looks like what people thought a toaster would look like now, 50 years ago. The other person is holding onto these metal TP roles with wires that attach them to the machine.

To me an idiot is someone who talks about something as if they have insight but in reality they are just spitting out what they've heard other people say (which can be insightful but often is just prejudiced).

This doesn't make any sense. How can you criticize people for trying to understand something that is supposedly "incomprehensible" and then go ahead and state without a doubt that there's no God, religion is just a fable, it's created for a sense of security, etc? You're making the same mistake that you're criticizing religious people for making (having the arrogance to think you know the answer, without a doubt). I'm not saying that religion is necessarily true, but you can never rule out the possibility that it is.

That does not add value to them, IMO; you get the anachronisms that lead to bigotry and suffering in our society, and stuff that once had a purpose that's now just plain nonsensical.

As for Scientology, I think the fact that it became a religion says something about the inherent susceptibility of the human mind to these types of spiritual or superstitious stories.

I personally find Scientology silly because it was created by a sci-fi author, and sounds like a sci-fi plot. Hail Xenu!

great, great point. I say believe whatever you wanna believe. I believe there's a god, and there's a heaven...and you should be good and shit and have good morals...but not much else. I like to think I've got my own religion, that consists of God, chillen, and basketball

Anyone who thinks I'm ridiculous or dumb can fuck off, because chances are, my idea of my religion could be just as silly as yours.
