As much as I liked Chambers I'm glad the organization finally figured out that its time to rebuild. Great move for both teams.

The rumors were strong all offsesason & into the preaseason. I am not surprised it happened. Nor am I sorry to see him go. He never really a #1 WR.
Time for Ginn & Hagan to step up.
I am just sorry Cam & Mueller could not get anything when they let McMichael go.

^ Me too.
He is a nice WR, definitely better than anything the Chargers have now, but he dropped way too many passes for my liking. I wish him the best though.

Does anyone have the total number of drops Chris Chambers had the last few seasons?
I think people overstate the importance of drops. Even a receiver with terrible hands will only drop 10-15 balls a year. I think Chambers was definitely a #1 receiver a couple of seasons ago, I don't see why he wasn't.
I like this trade for SD and hopefully Chambers learns their offensive system somewhat soon. Not that I'm rooting for SD, but I feel Chambers gets too much heat.

Im of the opinion that if you arent going to win now, then trade your best players for draft picks and rebuild quicker. Championship teams are built in rounds 2-5 so getting as many picks in those rounds as possible is always helpful. 1st rounders cost too much and can't live up to the contracts they get, so I actually prefer adding 2nds. There is so much talent left in the 2nd round of every draft.

Somes sites do keep track of them.

QUOTE (TheBeef)

Im of the opinion that if you arent going to win now, then trade your best players for draft picks and rebuild quicker. I think CC was getting a just amount of criticism.
I agree w/ that the end of the 1st & 2nd rounds are gold mines. There isalot of hype IMO w/ the 1st half to even 2/3rds of round 1

QUOTE (ATLien)

I was surprised they got that much in return for him, honestly.

Me too. I would have been fine with a fourth rounder.

I could see a contender trading for Taylor, but I really doubt anyone offers up for Thomas. MLBs seem to come and go

For comparison sake, St. Louis All-Pro Torry Holt has seen a similar amount of targets during the same span, but he's hauled in 60 percent of those looks (321-for-532). Certainly an assembly line of second-rate quarterbacks has hindered Chambers' production over the years, but the finger also can be pointed at Chambers for dropped passes and a perceived lack of effort and focus at times.
sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/nfl/news
It's from a fantasy football article, so take it for what it's worth.
And how the hell do you qoute something?

You can attribute some of Chambers drops to below average QB's. But, there were some games I watched where he'd drop easy ones.
You would think that its alot easier to catch a Feidler floater than rocket from Marino?
As far as trading JT, Do it IMO.the Rams are in perpetual need of Defensive help and Mueller has worked w/ Linehan & Haslett (ST L DC). I'd be pleased w/ a 3rd & 5th minimum

I think this trade has done justice for letting Welker go. IMO they definetely had the better deal with taking a 2nd rounder from the Chargers. Chambers clearly isn't worth a 2nd but more like a 4th or 5th. I find it odd that they invested so much when they had a chance to get players during free agency/draft time when players like Moss, Darrell Jackson, and Eric Moulds (I think) found new teams. This is clearly a sign that they are desperate to find more options for an already crowded Chargers offense. After all, LT and Gates are the only legit recievers on the team. I haven't heard much of Vincent Jackson, Malcom Floyd, or even Craig Davis. Though I doubt Chambers would automatically be the #1 reciever, he will soon if he shows that his career with the Dolphins was a mistake because of their QB's.
