Oct 17 - Jared Jeffries put in extensive work on his offensive game during the offseason and has regularly been the last player off the court because he puts in extra drills after practice with assistant coach Herb Williams.

Where Jeffries fits in Isiah Thomas' plans this season, however, remains to be seen.

Jeffries was signed to the midlevel exception last season as a player who, as Thomas put it, "balances the plane ride," but his inability to be an effective defensive presence compounded his lack of offensive skills.

The 6-11 Jeffries, a starter early last season, has played sparingly in the first two preseason games but still can be an effective defensive player. -- Newsday

If Jeffries can play good defense (not just decent defense), hit free throws and not be a liability on offense, he will be serviceable for us. Last season he didn't excel at anything, except rebounding I guess.

I haven't seen Jeffries, but he's been working all summer from I hear. That needs to translate to the court though.
