Favre does not need to retire. He still has the skills in the bag.
Favre may not be putting up the numbers he was when he was in his prime, but he's still a good quarterback. There's no subsitute for experience, Favre and Driver have alot of chemistry, and as long as Favre wants to play, why shouldn't he? Favre isn't hurting the team by coming back, and I mean how many players play solely b/c they want to? Well that's what Favre's doing, he in no way, shape or form needs the money. After finishing on a 4 game winning streak last year, the Packers have momentum and have a very realistic shot at the playoffs. I think it'd be great to see Favre get a chance to lead another playoff run, Green and Morency make a pretty decent one two punch, Driver is a very good number 1 WR, Jennings has shown promise as the number 2 WR, just has to stay healthy, we could definately use an upgrade at TE. The defense played solid at the end of the year, if I had to pick one person to replace it'd be Manuel, I think Collins is developing into a pretty good safety. So the Packers should be able to pick up a couple players in the free agency/draft to make the Packers legitimate playoff contenders, and who better to lead the Packers to the playoffs then Brett Favre?
Funny thing is whenever people say Favre should quikt I turn around and say "fine but now who do we start?" and then they don't have an answer. IMO as long as there's no obvious answer to who can take over don't just say Brett should quit. Sure Rodgers could be good but right now I'm not sure to many Packer fans want to enter next season depending on him, besides there will be a long career for him yet if he pans out. The other thing that bothers me is people always saying how players stay around to long and ruin their legacy but I say forget about it. If it does happen it's very short term. How many people remember Unitis sitting on the bench. Who would know Nitchke was replaced by Jim Carter. Who even remembers Marino's shame of a last game (other then BF1 who saves it for evil purposes). My point is in time the only memories people have of the legends is there greatness which can't be erased by a few average years in the twighlight of there career
