I'm very happy for Dungy. I always liked him as a Coach and I'm happy we don't have to live through the Manning can't win the big one talk anymore. The Bears had a hell of a year and they'll be around again next year but this was the year for the Colts.
im more happy for manning, hes been critizied by everyone who says he isnt good enough to win the championship and he finnaly does it im happy.

Grossman is young and could become a good quarterback, but can Lovie afford to bank his future on Grossman? The Bears are thisclose to winning a Super Bowl, but that window of opportunity won't stay open forever. I think the Bears defense can be fixed by simply getting healthy again. I would also do whatever it took to resign Thomas Jones, who is sorely underrated. The biggest weakness that I see in the Bears is the quarterbacking. How can Lovie not try to upgrade that position? I just don't see Grossman becoming a good QB a inevitability and this team is too good to put all of it's eggs in Grossman's basket.

The only bright spot to the Colts winning for me is Tony Dungy. He has been through a lot and he finally got a ring. I'm happy for him and nobody else. The thought of Manning being praised as the 2nd coming of Christ makes me puke.

It sounds like your jealous because Manning is stealing a little of Tom Brady's usual glory. Manning just led his team to a Super Bowl victory. Can't he have a moment in the sun? I guarantee that if the Patriots had won the Super Bowl and people were knocking Brady in the same manner, the Pats fans would be having fits and crying disrespect.
I will say the Colts winning does set the league back IMO. The whole aspect of team was the Patriots model & now you have proof that a great QB is all you really need. I know Peyton's been preaching the aspect of team & their D really stepped up in the playoffs. But the fact remains that Manning is the $ player & it's likely the defense that did so well in the postseason will be dismantled via FA. As we all know the NFL is a copycat league, therefore if the Colts continue to be successful in the future franchises will likely focus on getting a top QB in favor of other aspects of the team. As a result you will see a lot more 1st round QB duds.

Of course, when you read between the lines of the post above, one thing becomes obvious. The Patriots invented football and anyone who tries to do anything differently than the Patriot way is bad for football. The whole aspect of team was the Patriots model? Did you see the episode of America's Game which featured the #1 Super Bowl Champion in their survey?

The Colts D was catalyzed by the skills/performance/efforts of one individual... Bob Sanders. Parity is whats best for the NFL IMO not dynasties. How long did Peyton try and win games sinlge handedly? Quite awhile and it did not work. It wasn't until all aspects of the Colts team came together that they won... just like the Broncos under Elway and the Pack under Fave. Indy had the worst run D in the league this year... imagine how average they'll be when (DL's) Reagor & Simon return next season.
I'm refering to the salary cap era in which we are currently still in if I'm not mistaken? <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>How long did Peyton try and win games sinlge handedly? They have lost a few good LB's each of the past 3 years and it doesn't appear to have hurt them. Cato June may be the next but w/ Reagor & Simon returning it may all be for moot. Now, that the Colts have won a Super Bowl maybe more players will want to play for them?

I'm sure you will be thrilled to hear from them that Manning blows Marino out of the water in every category. But hey, to each his own. (AP) ? State lawmakers on Monday proposed a day honoring Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy, who was born and raised in Michigan. Dungy, whose Colts won the Super Bowl, is from Jackson, where he excelled in football at Parkside High School. He is the first black coach to win a Super Bowl. "Because of the strength of his character, as well as his success on the field, Tony Dungy is an inspiration to all of us," said Senate Minority Leader Mark Schauer, D-Battle Creek, whose district includes Jackson. Schauer plans to sponsor a legislative resolution proposing "Tony Dungy Day" along with Democratic Reps. Marty Griffin of Jackson and Mike Simpson of Jackson County's Liberty Township. They had not yet determined which day to honor Dungy.</div>

Most football fans that I know were calling Tom Brady the next Joe Montana while dismissing Peyton Manning was a choker. (The only time most people picked Peyton over Brady was in fantasy football.) Of course, that's pretty stupid because football is a team game. The best way to spot a novice football fan is to listen to him talk about QBs winning and losing Super Bowls as though the QB did it all by himself. Besides, everytime I turn on my TV the face of the NFL looks like Chad Johnson. So what if people do start making a big deal out of Peyton Manning. He deserves it. He works hard and produces on the field.
