(AP) -- Brook Lopez, a 7-foot sophomore who was already academically ineligible for the start of Stanford's season, has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.
The suspension went into effect Thursday. Lopez will not be able to practice or participate in any team activities while serving the suspension, coach Trent Johnson said.
Lopez averaged 12.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 25.2 minutes last season. He played in 26 games, starting 18, after being slowed early by a back injury. Named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman team, Lopez opted against entering the NBA draft.
His twin brother, Robin, also plays for the Cardinal.

Updated on Thursday, Oct 18, 2007 10:24 pm, EDT

Wow, this sucks...alot. I was hoping to see him play some this season. Seemed like he'd be a top player this year.

Robin is in some trouble as well. If they are both out for an extended period Stanford's season will go down the tubes extremely fast.

QUOTE

FoxSports - Stanford sophomore 7-footer Brook Lopez was cleared this morning and will play Wednesday against Santa Clara. Cardinal coach Trent Johnson confirmed to FOXSports.com that Lopez, who sat out the first semester due to academics, was given the go-ahead to play shortly after 11 a.m. PT this morning. Johnson was hopeful that Lopez would be cleared in time for yesterday's exhibition game against the College of Idaho, but he didn't receive the official word until this morning.

http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/7576076
Aaaand he's back. I wonder how he's gonna do now, this season.

Last year he gave the Cardinal a big boost when he cameback, this year he should do the same. He's a complete game changer, and will really help Stanford, who are off to a good start w/o him. Oh yeah, he's healthy this year too......

Brook is going to be huge for them, because Stanford should be undefeated or at least only have one loss with their schedule so far.
