On Thursday evening four-star athlete <font color="#ce0e00">Lamaar Thomas</font> confirmed what recruiting observers had been whispering for weeks, he's a Buckeye. The top ranked player from the state of Maryland made it official on national television and is thrilled to be the 12th member of the Ohio State recruiting class.</p> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">document.write(insertImage('/IMAGES/Camper/PHOTO/LAMAARTHOMASNIKE200.JPG', '', 0, 267, 200, 1, 'Despite a strong push from Illinois and Maryland, Thomas felt at home with the Buckeyes.', 'Rivals.com', 1192718407000, '', 1014, 'Align=Left'));</script> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="208" align="left" border="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td width="202"></td> <td width="6" rowspan="3"></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="3"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="center"><font size="1">Despite a strong push from Illinois and Maryland, Thomas felt at home with the Buckeyes.</font></td> </tr> </tbody> </table> "It means a lot, this is a great recruiting class and we have a chance to be one the top recruiting classes in the country and all they are all good guys," Thomas said. "I feel good to be part of that." The Rivals100 star fell in love with the Buckeyes this past summer when he had a chance to visit Columbus and the Ohio State camp and despite some stiff competition from Illinois and Maryland the newest Buckeye was never able to get Ohio State out of his mind. "That (visit) was my first impression and that was the best impression," Thomas said. "There was nothing I could complain about and everything was good. From that first impression and it being good I had already expected things to be good the next time I was out there." Thomas has the ability to play multiple positions on the field and will be first looked at by Ohio State at the wide receiver position. Even though it is a new position for the 5-foot-11, 181-pounder, Thomas is excited for the opportunity to show what he is capable of with his blistering 4.4 second (40-yard-dash) speed and knows that when the ball is in his hands that he can make things happen. "(I am) playing receiver, return kicks and also getting motioned into the backfield and getting the ball out of the backfield," Thomas said. The Brew Crew had been working overtime on Thomas with players like <font color="#000000">DeVier Posey</font> and <font color="#000000">Michael Brewster</font> keeping tabs on the Fort Washington (Md.) star. What kind of role did the current commits have on the newest commit when it came down to making a position. "I talk with those guys just about every day," Thomas said. "They kept in touch with me and it didn't have to be about being a Buckeye. Checking on me just to see how my games went and how it was going that day. With those guys making a good friendship it just made it a little bit easier to make a decision knowing that I had people that were on their way to Ohio State that cared." Now will be able to focus on the remainder of his senior season and look to lead his Friendly high school team to a state championship. His team has easily rolled through the first six games of the season and Thomas will settle for nothing less than a state title in his final season. "We're 6-0 now, we play tonight (Friday)," Thomas said. "We have four more regular season games. We're going to try (to win all of them)." Thomas is happy that his recruitment is over and will revel in the fact that the phone will finally stop ringing. "It means a whole lot and a lot of weight is lifted off my shoulders," Thomas said. "I feel more comfortable now and go out on the field and just play football. I can go into the classroom and just do my schoolwork and don't have to be worrying about what I am going to do and make the decision. It's just a lot of weight of my shoulders and I feel good and I can concentrate on the things I want to concentrate on now." Now will Thomas turn from recruit into recruiter and try and lure friend <font color="#000000">Terrelle Pryor</font> into the class? "We're going to get that," Thomas joked. "We are working on that and we're going to get that (laugh)."</p>
