Mutu Not Interested In Real Madrid
Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu has thanked Real Madrid for their interest in him but says he has absolutely no intention of leaving the Viola and instead would like to renew his contract.
The Romanian star, who signed for Fiorentina from Juventus in 2006, has been in sparkling form this season, scoring five goals in seven appearances.
These performances have attracted the interest of the likes of Real Madrid, Milan and Lyon, but Mutu insists he is happy to stay with La Viola.
“It’s nice to feel appreciated and I’m honoured that Real Madrid are interested in me, but I’d have to say no,” Mutu told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I’d like to extend my contract at Fiorentina, but there’s no hurry as I’m already here for four more years.“Talk about the transfer market doesn’t bother me, I just want to win with this side.
“At the moment we are behind Milan, Inter and Roma, but we will be at that level soon.”
Mutu was a key figure in Romania's victory over the Netherlands in a crucial Euro 2008 qualifier last weekend.
Romania have since qualified for Austria and Switzerland, meaning the 28-year-old will get the chance to appear in only the second major international championship of his career.
The first was at Euro 2000 when Romania reached the quarter-finals, where they were knocked out by Italy.

Adrian has gone through a lot and has changed his life from being a crack-addict orgy partier to a decently well balanced person. His ability is sort of like Rocchi, though not quite as good. The thing I'm getting at is that if he moved to Real Madrid he will simply just get lost in the rotation. While I absolutely cannot stand Fiorentina, I'd prefer to see Mutu in violet then white.
