David Haugh, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears LB Lance Briggs, who was designated the team's franchise player earlier this month, has not commented publicly in the wake of the club's decision to tag him, but several sources have said the linebacker is frustrated with the designation. Additionally, it is believed Briggs has mentioned to at least one teammate the possibility of seeking a trade instead of signing the offer. Briggs would be guaranteed a $7.2 million salary next season if he signs the one-year franchise tender offer. Briggs was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this year.

I think briggs is mad and thinks he is playing in urlachers Shadow... Which is completely untrue.. I am beginning to think Briggs is an attention Whore who has to be the #1 defensive player on the Team.

I want Briggs back because he is a very good football player.. But if he is going to be a distraction then Fuck him let him go somewhere where he is the center of attention.. Without urlacher i doubt his stats would be all that good.. probably decent but nothing like they are now

You kidding? Briggs knows that he had a big payday coming (more than the $7 mil he is going to get). There are a bunch of teams, Vikings included, that would love to bring him in and have the cap room to give him a healthy contract.

Players dont care about "playing in peoples shadows" He wants a long term big payday. And looking at how stringent the Bears are with money he knows he might not get it.

You can't say that he might not be thinking that on most other teams he will be the number 1 defensive player. On the Bears he is overshadowed by Urlacher, it's "Urlachers defense". If he goes to another team he will be in the spotlight (and get the big payday), and as long as he delivers, he will be the face of the defense. He may even be able to go down as one of the best linebackers in the teams history, but as long as he's on the Bears, he's just part of the supporting cast.

I totally agree with this. I think he's a very good player but i bet his play will level off a lot if he's no longer in a situation were teams single out another player and double and sometimes triple block him!
