As I do not have the NFL network, I'd appreciate any and all thoughts from those who do. The players I am most interested in are; Higgins (WR UTEP), Free (OT N Illinois), Staley (OT C Michigan), Rowe (QB Nevada-Reno), Spencer & (DE/OLB Purdue). Any info on the following local players would be appreciated; Weddle (S/Utah), Soliai (DT Utah), Harline (TE BYU).
The only player I'm really interested in is Drew Stanton. It's a shame I won't be able to see it but I'll hope that I get some good news for you guys and maybe on draft day when the Ravens deaft him. Talk about, A STEAL!!!

Staley didn't work out because of a leg muscle injury and I didn't see much of Doug Free. Free did have some impressive jump numbers with a 30" vertical and a 9'3" broad jump. Both are very good measurements of hip explosion, which is important for OL prospects. He repped 225 lbs. 22 times, which isn't phenomenal. Justin Blalock and Manuel Ramirez have the top bench reps at 40. Staley repped out at 27 times. Harline was a bit disappointing. I thought he would be faster than he was. He ran a 4.84 I believe. Not very good considering he's an undersized TE. Fellow BYU TE Daniel Coats was actually much more impressive. Harline will still be drafted ahead of him. Defensive players start tomorrow. For anyone interested in some notable's 40 times... Calvin Johnson - 4.35 Adrian Peterson - 4.38 Marshawn Lynch - 4.49 Brian Leonard - 4.49

I felt that Higgins was a bigger & more polished Ginn, Jr maybe not quite as fast. It does not surprise that Coats did well. Harline did well this year while Coats tailed off. Speaking of TE's, what about Herrian from Nebraska? I heard there was some question to Levi Brown's speed. Thoughts? Last time I checked, OT's don't need to be speed demons. I heard Levi had a nasty streak. It would be phenomenal IMO if he were in Aqua & orange next year to protect Daunte's backside
Herian didn't get invited to the combine. Levi Brown ran like a 5.29, but who cares. It doesn't really matter what a LT runs in a 40. When does a LT ever run 40 yards down the field. Jamie Dukes was making a big deal about it, but he just showed how stupid he actually is. He was putting too much emphasis on 40 times during all of NFL Access. 40 times for an OT might show some athleticism, but it's not a real measuring stick for the position. I'm much more interested in an OLs bench press, broad jump, arm length and actually 20 yard shuttle. The 20 yard shuttle shows how well an OL can shift his weight. Unfortunately, I haven't seen many shuttle numbers right now. I'll find them after the combine I'm sure. I saw Brown in a lot of the pull drills and he looked very smooth. I think he was the 3rd most impressive OL next to Joe Thomas and Justin Blalock. Brown has more value than Blalock though because he plays LT. Brown still could be a top 10 pick. I really don't think he'd make it past the top 15. If you guys have any questions about any of the WRs or RBs 40 times and what not, I have most of them and can share them easily. Just tell me who ya wanna know about.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (MKIV_Supra)</div><div class='quotemain'>Someone chalk up Clavin Johnson to the Bucs. Some of Tampa Bay's staff had a talk with him I heard.</div> That's been assumed for a while. I think Johnson is the best player in the draft. That's not a radical thought I know. Most will rank him as the top prospect. He measured in at 6'5, 239 lbs. and ran a 4.35 40?! That's insane. He's got to be one of the best athletes to ever come out in the draft if not the best. He was productive in college too despite having a QB who couldn't complete even 50% of his passes in Reggie Ball.

I doubt he would fall off the top 5 picks. Tampa Bay would be the most likely since they might want to have someone complement Joey Galloway since Michael Clayton hasn't performing up to par since his rookie year.
Robert Meacham ran a 4.36 unofficial 40 yard dash. I think that propels him into round 1. Bowe ran a 4.5 which is what is expected. Anthony Gonzalez from Ohio State ran a 4.44 which wasn't as fast as I thought. I think he has an outside shot at round 1. Dwayne Jarrett didn't run but reports are he ran a 4.7 while working out a few weeks ago. Until I see his 40 I'm going to drop him probably out of the top 20. Ginn didn't run either due to injury. Overall though I think you could see 6 1st round receivers. I believe 5 for sure. I think Gonzalez is borderline. Sidney Rice is a long shot but I think he goes early round 2 to a team like the Vikings. Greg Olsen ran a 4.51 official 40. I think he's a 1st round TE. He looked really good. It would not shock me to see Green Bay or Cincy take him in the top 20. Might be a reach pending who is there though. Overall though I think Olsen and Meacham have made the most money this weekend so far.

Don't ask why. Greg Olsen is a pretty good prospect at TE. The Bears might be lucky to take him with the 32nd pick. Though last year lacked depth at the WR position, this year is pretty good. But not many stand out from the pack after Johnson is taken.

I like Jarrett and I think he could be a steal but he's not the prospect people think he is. Everyone thinks he's really bad like Mike Williams and avoids him that way or very good and put him on the level of Calvin Johnson. Regardless I don't believe he's the 2nd best receiver prospect in this draft any longer. His proday is going to make or break his bank.

There isn't a definite 4th RB in this draft class yet with Peterson, Lynch and M. Bush seemingly locking up the top 3 spots although Bush could fall pending how his pro day goes cause of his injury. Some like Tony Hunt or Antonio Pittman there. Pittman rand a 4.42 today. I think Leonard has to be mentioned with those two players. He's more versatile and is a great receiver out of the backfield. There are still a lot of doubters about him being a true RB though. So many want to project him as a FB still and I think that's unfair. I'm not afraid to say that it's cause he's white either.

Meacham's official ended up being a 4.39 and he won a lot of fans with his interview with Charles Davis afterwards. He came off as very humble, but still with the belief that he's one of the top WRs in the draft. Don't ask me how he pulled off both, but that's now my opinion of him. Maybe he bamboozled me. Anyway, I rank him right behind Jarrett. I moved Bowe ahead of Jarrett. I don't like Olsen as a top 20 pick, but he's definitely going to be getting some consideration there. He's by far the top TE in this class. There really isn't much competition for him. Speaking of TEs...I want to go on record saying that Derek Schouman of Boise St. is going to be a great starter in the NFL someday. That kid impressed me dramatically during the combine.
I missed the day with the TEs, How did TE Ben Patrick (Delaware) do? He could be a really good 2nd round player, he can catch the ball and block, and with Panthers OC Davidson last year getting the ball to K2 a lot last year, he wants a TE that can make 50 catches a year.

Some early notes on Spencer for ya bA...He ran his first 40 in a 4.76 which is good enough for him to be considered as a true tweener prospect. I think his future is still at OLB in a 3-4 defense. Quentin Moses tanked so far...he ran a 4.82 in his first attempt. I've thought Jarvis Moss was the top tweener prospect in this draft for some time and he ran a 4.68 unofficially. Gaines Adams put up a 4.64 which is very impressive.
Thanks for the 411. I too thought Spencer would be a 3-4 OLB. I hope he's around when Miami is on the clock in the 2nd round.

I got a 40 time for Weddle for ya bA. 4.51...Not bad at all for him. Chris Houston ran the fastest 40 at 4.32. Leon Hall ran a 4.39.
