So who is the best college football team this season? I don't see Ohio State or BC being able to beat LSU, Florida or Oregon, but every team has flaws.
Will this season come down to matchups?

QUOTE (o.iatlhawksfan)

LSU imo

Why?

QUOTE (o.iatlhawksfan)

I mean the only game they lost, was in 3OT against the best QB in the country.

Would they lose to Florida a second time?

QUOTE

Would they lose to Florida a second time?

They could easily lose to Florida if they played again. Which is why the SEC is so fricken crazy year in and year out.
I agree with cpawfan about his best teams in the country. LSU has played ranked team after ranked team and only lost to another ranked UK team with a great clutch QB. Find me another team that has played as many ranked teams as LSU. Chances are they are in the SEC and chances are they have 2 losses.

Teams with speed and elite athletes are going to give Ohio State problems. I doubt they could go through an SEC schedule with less than 3 losses.
BC is getting phenominal QB play and is well coached, but I'm holding judgement on them until after they play VaTech. Their performance against Notre Dame didn't leave me impressed, but they won and in this wacky season, that is really all you can ask of a team.
Does Oregon have enough speed and talent to match up with a top SEC team?

My answer obviously is going to be biased. Oregon has one of the most explosive offenses I have ever seen. If they somehow get there defense to improve a little, they will be unstoppable. the only reason they lost to Cal was because they beat themselves, if they don't beat themselves and lose composure for the rest of the season, its over ladies and gents. Oregon also has one of the hardest remaining schedules, so if they win out they will be in the title game imo.

The only time I watched Oregon this season was against michigan, and they were very impressive in that game!

I agree that Oregon is up there in regards to top teams...much more so than Boston College and Ohio State. However I dont think they are physical enough. They have the speed, coaching, and experience.

QUOTE (Ed the Decider)

Im going to say Ohio State, they havnt lost yet.

They aren't the only team that hasn't lost and all they have done is win the MAC.

This is how my top 10 looks. I do one every week. Just not here. Originally, when I did it, I had OSU #1, but I just couldn't justify it with what I look at. 1. LSU 2. Ohio State 3. Oregon 4. Oklahoma 5. Florida 6. West Virginia 7. Boston College 8. Kentucky 9. USC 10. Arizona State

Head-to-head, I think I would probably pick LSU against any team in the country. That's not to say I think they should still be ranked #1 in the AP poll but I still think they are the best team. And I think right after them are the Pac-10 teams (we'll see who's best these coming weeks).

I would have to say Oregon, USC, LSU, and Oklahoma all can make good cases for being the best in the nation. I dont buy OSU and they will blow a game or two late, especially to Michigan. ASU hasnt played anyone and they are about to get exposed over the next 4 weeks.

I'd probably lean towards LSU but I think it's pretty much impossible to make a case for any single team being the clear cut best. This year really is going to be probably the 2nd best example in history as to why we need playoffs in college football. Ohio State is good but their statement win is over Washington whom is better but far from being a great team. I think Oregon is a nice dark horse but they need to get by USC. If they do that then I think they could end up in the National Title Game.

QUOTE (CelticKing)

Tomorrow night you'll see why BC is the best team.

Did you guys see the game last night? 14 points in the last 2 and a half minutes.
What a game it was. haha
BC #1!!!!!!!!!
