QUOTE

Al Iannazzone details a long line of attempts by Net brass to acquire players now on the Celtic roster, from Kevin Garnett to James Posey to Eddie House. Iannazzone says the Nets offered Richard Jefferson, Nenad Krstic and Marcus Williams to the Wolves for Garnett, and were close on Posey and House. Iannazzone also reveals another failed deal for Jefferson. Boston, he writes, offered Theo Ratliff and Al Jefferson for RJ last summer. Still, there are no sour grapes in Netsland.

Nets not crying over lost players

I don't know about you guys but I'd rather have Big Al or Deng over RJ. Classic case of denial. Who cares? Our frontoffice should care. Turning down a chance to trade for a stud like Al Jefferson and a a wing as good as Deng. Heck, Chicago even wanted to throw in a pick, 16 or 3? Either way, two HUGE mistakes by Thorn.

Yea, I'm starting to wonder about Thorn not taking these gambles. At the time it was a gamble because Jefferson did not play heavy minutes to close out the 05-06 season and was injured. So there really wasn't much to go on. But with a player like Kidd wouldn't that be motivation enough for these guys to get their ass on the court because given, a McDyess, KMart, and RJ all who have teamed with Kidd and got a nice contract to follow be enough proof for them that if you like to run, Kidd will find you. I think Thorn is really underestimating what Kidd can do for unproven players.

speaking of Deng, if Thorn knew anything about his offseason regimen, he should have jumped all over that trade last summer. This guy works like a horse during the offseason.

What pisses me off the most if KG has stated he was dying to play with Kidd yet he DIDN'T force a trade to NJ. I hope he never ever says he regrets not forcing a trade here. It'll make him look bad and the Celtics franchise look bad. It's his fault he didn't tell McHale that NJ was the team he wanted to get traded too.
