With just a few days remaining before release, I'm just kind of wondering as to who might be getting this. I, personally, am uber-stoked for the game. I'm a huge Guitar Hero fan. I played the first one to the point where the guitar doesn't work anymore, and I played the second one constantly for the last year as well. I've beaten both games on expert, and the only songs in the series that I can't beat on expert are Six by All that Remains and Jordan by Buckethead. And, after playing the GH3 demo, I'm even more excited. I already have my 360 copy reserved and halfway paid for, all that I'm waiting for is Sunday to come so I can get the game and blow through it on hard in one sitting, cause after looking at some of the videos on Youtube, there's no way I'm beating it on expert without getting through it on hard beforehand.

Looks like a cool game, and getting great reviews. Myself though, I don't like guitars in the first place so getting a game about them wouldn't make sense. lol

Honestly, I never played guitar either until I played the game. It's completely different than playing an actual guitar. It's actually incredibly fun, especially once you get up to the higher difficulty levels, than it can get very challenging as well. And really, anyone can play the game. My girlfriend, who knows nothing about guitars loves it. Same with another one of my good friends. I actually only have one friend that's a guitar player that plays the game, no else that I know that plays guitar plays this. I'd check it out if I were you. Just because you can't play guitar, doesn't mean you can't play Guitar Hero.

QUOTE (CelticKing)

Do you need to buy the guitar or you can play with the regular controller?

I think you need a guitar.....lol
Never played them either so I don't know much about them, but I heard there great fun.

You could play with a regular controller, but that's hardly entertaining. A lot of the entertainment is based on the fact that it uses a guitar-shaped controller. Beyond that, it's also a huge pain to use a regular controller to play it. Honestly though, if you have intentions on playing the game, do it justice and get it with the guitar, you'll have way more fun.

I must say, I'm in love wit this game. I've been playing it non-stop since buying it. I've already beaten it on hard, and me and a friend beat the co-op career mode on expert/hard (I played on expert). This is by far the best Guitar Hero yet. The set list is amazing. The game plays great, with hammer-ons and pull-offs working better than ever. I only have two issues. The final encore is a battle with Lou (the devil) in a heavy metal rendition of The Devil Went Down to Georgia. Once you beat that, you don't get to unlock the actual song for quick play, which sucks, cause it's a blast to play and I'd love to not have to battle and still get to play it. Hopefully they remedy this issue by releasing it as downloadable content. The other issue is co-op. The only way you can do it is in career. Now, that's not a bad thing, but here's the issue. Say, if you're playing through it on expert/expert, and you have a friend that wants to play and can only play on medium, YOU HAVE TO START THE THING OVER!!!! It's lame. But, despite these, this is still the best GH game yet. The set list is incredible and the gameplay is phenomenal. If you've never played GH, I suggest you give this a try.

I, like my buddy, don't care for the game. The Concept is nice, but I don't like much of the music present in those games, plus I already play a real guitar and bass so the game has no life to it for me. For someone who doesn't play for real though, I can see the fun in it.

See, I play for real too, as does one of my friends, and both of us still love the game. I don't think whether you play guitar or not has anything to do with your enjoyment of the game personally.

Lets stay on topic here CB. I realize this is the Video Games forum, but this thread is definitely about Guitar Hero 3, not Manhunt 2. (Off topic here though, I want to check it out too).

It's no problem really, just wanting to make sure the thread stayed on topic, even if it was dying down.

I have the game. i love it. I think rock band is going to be better though. This GHIII is a game I'll still play. If anyone wants to play over XBL hit me up

GH3 is the first one I've owned/played so I can't really compare it to the other two editions, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I had to buy the guitar seperate from the game because (supposedly) Red Octane isn't shipping enough units in order to generate hype. So I have the white guitar, which is fine for me.
I've been a big Dragonforce fan for a few years so attempting Through The Fire and the Flames is pretty cool, albeit insanely frustrating.
