Pre Season Game 5: Adieu Mateen; Couldn’t recall what youdid. October 25, 2007

QUOTE

With Mateen Cleaves gone, this leaves 17 players on the roster, let’s say Eddie Gill is going, they only option left since they would be signing Darrell wouldbe waiving Mile Ilic; Rod Thorn has already stated that he’s willing to pay the luxury tax, so it seems that money would not be a big issue, which also paves the way for waiving Ilic a much more easier option.

hm hm hmmm...Mile Ilic cut, and Hite staying? He doesn't even mention Hite, kinda weird. I kinda assume he believes Hite will make the team, and I hope he does, that'd be nice.

I'd love to see this, seeing as I don't pay luxury tax. Their attempts to buyout Illic could be seen as their willingness to get rid of Illic for more deserving players. I just hope that these repeated buyout attempts aren't a sign that we aren't willing to waive him, and take the cap casualty.

It's as simple as this, and I know it's easier said then done, but: If the Nets are serious about winning, they have to takse "risks" so to speak by having to pay more luxury. If they want fresh people on this team, they have no choice but to do it.

In other words, Illic won't contribute to a team that is set on the ECF. Hite, I believe, will.

if we were willing to cut mile then i think we woulda had houston in camp, but i hope we do get rid of him because i really do like hite. soul driver is right, we keep saying our main goal is to win a title and once kidd leaves i dont see us having a legit shot at the title. we have to do everything we can to win a title and the bottom line is that mile will not contribute anything to this team. i know its easier said than done and millions of dollars are involved, but if you really really wana put the best team together to make a strong deep push into the playoffs then we gotta get rid of mile. anyone else will contribute more than him. hite, houston, jones, gill are all guys who could have contributed to this team if needed. luckily we still have hite around so i am hoping that things can be done to keep hite in a uni come next wednesday
