Oct 25 - Doc Rivers might delay his goal of trimming the roster from 16 to 14 until just before the Nov. 2 season opener against Washington at TD Banknorth Garden.

He was referring to the possibility of another team releasing a player who interests the Celtics, particularly a center. The C's are short at that position, but Rivers is confident that backup Scot Pollard, sidelined by a deep bone bruise in his left ankle, will be available by Nov. 2. -- Boston Herald
