The RealGM staff is reporting that the Celtics have trimmed their roster to 14 by cutting guards Dahntay Jones and Jackie Manuel, meaning undrafted rookie forward Brandon Wallace has made the cut.
I'm very happy about this, and I have wanted Wallace to survive the cuts since summer league action. He's very long, extremely athletic, able to play and defend some of the bigger small forwards in the league, and he is somebody we can throw down in the D-League this season to watch develop. He has a chance to become a solid player in the future, and while Jones may be the better basketball player as of today, this was the right move by the organization.

I thought Jones was a forsure make to this team and even get good minutes. Are they making room for Antione?

The plan was to trim the roster to 14 to give this team future flexibility to fill holes on the roster. For example, who knows what P.J. Brown will want to do come December/January, it's not out of place to speculate that Damon Stoudamire could become available... an Atlanta point guard... etc. Hell, even Marc Jackson would be a solid fit for this team right now. We needed that flexibility, and I think it was the right decision to cut it to 14.

QUOTE (Universe)

Would you guys rather PJ over Antione or does Antione still have close ties with Paul?

Paul and Toine are still friends, they still talk to each other, but I think P.J. Brown is a much better fit for this team than Antoine. We need a center, plain and simple. Pollard is going to miss a lot of games, we knew that coming in, and Perk is already expieriencing hamstring pains. I do not want to have to make KG defend guys like Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph for an entire game like he did the other night. He can defend basically anybody, but huge bodies like that wear him down and take away from him offensively as the game progresses. KG himself said that it was "terrible" having to defend them for 38 minutes because of their size.
I think P.J. Brown would be a nice pickup, but if not, I think Marc Jackson would be a good option as well. He's tough, wide, strong, very physical, brings a lot of energy, and I think he'd be the perfect guy to have bang around for 10-15 minutes per game at the 5-spot.

you had to do it. You just had to mention Birdman, didn't you?
