QUOTE

Sports Illustrated’s NBA Preview issue came out this week, and the magazine predicts that the Nets will finish ninth (out of the playoffs) in the Eastern Conference, while it has the Knicks finishing sixth in the East. Rod Thorn hopes his team makes a note of the prediction, but the players seem to be shrugging it off.

    Knicks 6th, Nets 9th
    Diss gets Nets' attention

Finish 9th? Are you freakin' kidding me? That's a joke.

I could see the Nets ending up ninth. I highly doubt they will, but I could see it. However, the Knicks sixth, there aren't strong enough hallucinogens for that.

I agree with all that. The Nets have proven that they can be thoroughly mediocre when they want to be--even without the injury excuse. And I think you're going to see Charlotte, and Orlando better, and obviously boston is a playoff-calibur team. So someone has to be squeezed out. As usual, though, injuies will play a role as to who stands where at the end of the day.

Possible due to injuries but that's assumming a lot especilly since they get paid big bucks for these predictions.

Yes the East has gotten stronger, but the Nets are still too good of a team. Anything lower than 5th, I don't see happening. Nets tend to play at a mediocre level, Dumpy, but it's about time to step it up. That's what I'm looking/expecting this season.

Are these guys predicting a big injury or decline in Kidd or Carter's game? The didn't keep up with Boston or New York this offseason but Krstic and Mags is a better frontcourt than Moore and Collins (maybe S. Williams can make an impact regularly too?).

well if we end up 9th or are sub .500 in the middle of the season then changed will be made. whether its trying to get JO,Kobe, Odom or whoever else but players, most likely rj and krstic (not really any choice unless if someone wants vc as a ticket seller). i really do not see us ending up 9th unless if we get hit with a couple of injuries for a long period of time. even if other teams are improved i dont see us being the team getting knocked out.

well anyway, off to the sixers/nets game i go. hopefully swat gets a lot of playing time <3 that guy

nets finish 2nd in the east with a 50-32 record and make it to the finals. thats my prediction

there is no way i see the knicks finishing sixth , if theyre lucky they'll finish 8th at best

Yeah, and then they got that guy that does his thing, and he's so good at it, ya know?

And then that other guy, he can shoot the ball. He doesn't always make it, but when he does, it goes in.

And then they got that coach...he knows how to tell his players what to do. I think. Idk if they always listen tho, but when they do...boy, do they listen.

And that's why the Knicks will win the Atlantic.

Wait, what? Okay, seriously. The Knicks aren't gonna make the playoffs. I don't even see them finishing any higher than last in the Atlantic. All of their big men outside of David Lee and Malik Rose have a high risk of a heart attack, asthma, and a whole bunch of other shit that basically say "you're fat". Their "point guards" are seemingly out for stats and rarely pass the ball. Their coach is an idiot. This team will not finish ahead of the Nets.

figures. Yet another writer who loves throwin out the stupidest bullshit. I mean the Nets out of the playoffs by 1 spot I could understand, although it's very unlikely. But the Knicks making the playoffs over them?? C'mon. That's fuckin ridiculous. Sounds like he's just trying to sell some magazines and rile up some people.
