Did you know that, not counting that half-game fiasco against the celtics, the Nets have given up more than 27 points in a quarter just FOUR times this preseason? And have given up less than 20 points in a quarterTEN times? (twice they gave up exactly 20 points) Now that doesn't account for things like game pace, and the quality of the opposition, but this has to be a good sign, right?

Defense AND a frontcourt? I dunno, I'm worried that our team might start to be overhyped.

Already a bunch of ESPN analysts are expecting us to finish in the top 4 of the east. I'll be honest I agree with their thinking; I've been a long-time opponent of blowing up the team and trading multiple pieces away (i.e. O'Neal) because of the potential this group has. That being said, the team is certainly playing at a high level, and god help us all if Sean improves at the same rate that Boone did last year (keeping in mind that Sean will have a lot more experience during his rookie campaign).

I think it's still a work in progress. It will only get better.

It is there, a lot better than before, but there's a lot of room for improvement. I'm excited.

I think it's going to be a lot better than last year. But we won't get solid evidence until about 5 days from now. The depth and RJ's health alone have to be factors, though. And Vince's frame of mind. He's looking darn good defensively on most possessions. Heck, Boki looked pretty decent defensively in this game.

And without taking the thread too far afield, what's with Twin suddenly posting up and trying to finish strong on little flashes to the paint? Talk about changes.:-)

It's been pretty funny to me, since I've only heard of such attempts, and haven't seen these in person.

On one hand I would find it totally unexpected, and therefore unwarrented. However what reigns above all this is my supported belief that every player should play above themsleves while on the court

Who has picked them to finish in the top 4? I thought everyone was picking them to finish somewhere around 7th.

Coach Frank always talks about holding the opponent to 22 points a quarter. This team is certainly capable of doing that should they remain healthy, focused, and motivated.

In a couple of games, they've suffered a one-quarter defensive meltdown. Maybe it is due to the personnel they have on the court, but they have to avoid that and stay consistent.
