Theismann was fired from Monday Night Football. His rumored replacement is Ron Jaworski.

I don't care who they replace him with. I'm just glad he's gone...

I saw this on Headline News this morning and was happy. I can now watch & listen to MNF.

Dale will be pleased that Joey T has been shown the door.

Bring back Paul Maguire & replace Kornheiser w/ Emmitt Smith. I really don't who the play by play guy is Tirico or Mike Patrick.

Kornheiser definitely needs to follow. If you want comic relief get someone that doesnt need a script. Like a Sara Silverman or Dave Chapelle, but then you'd probably have a serious issue with the censors in both their cases. lol

I prefer Patrick as the play by play guy.

Thank God Theisman was and is terrible, I like Tony though. He aggrevated Joe and that is a good thing.

They should put wilbon and Berman for play by play

Glad to hear it...I don't think Jaworski is any better though....I agree with BJames....Let Berman call the play by play....Bring the excitement back.

I don't like jaws but he's an upgrade from Theisman. Hopefully Jaws doesn't show up for Eagles games. He wouldn't be objective at all.

I wish they would drop Tony for Paul Maguire.

Keep Berman in the studio for the NFL. He is tolerable for baseball.

Dan Patrick should do play by play w/ an occasional appearance from DP's partner on Sportscenter (K. Olbermann), but, VF would ban me for mentioning you know who.

Besides, KO is a hard core baseball fan and not really a football fan.

My life just got better with this news! Don't let the door hit your arse Joe!

I like Jaws but im not sure if he's going to be that good in the booth, but anything is an improvement over Broke leg Theisman! lol. Now if we can only get Kornheiser out of here too! I love him on PTI but not on MNF not at all! Bring in Berman!

Nah, nah, nah, nah! Nah, nah, nah, nah! Hey! Hey! Joe! Goooooodbye! This news is so good that it should have been reported by a gecko. In fact, this dog just heard about Joe Theismann getting fired.

I do agree, with FP, that Kornheiser is much better on PTI than MNF. Personally, I would replace him with Paul McGuire. However, I am really glad to see Jaws get his shot on MNF. I think he'll do great. He's more knowledgable than Theismann and without the irritating personality. Best news of 2007 so far and it will be hard to beat.

Joe does such a disservice to Gannon with that kind of quote. I have a lot of respect for Rich Gannon. I thought the Chiefs made a huge mistake when they got rid of him, but to say that Gannon is in the top 5 of all-time QBs? That just makes people laugh and I hate to see Rich be laughed at. My favorite Gannon story is when he took the balls off the pool table and stuck them on top of his locker and dared for them to be taken down. Of course, he could probably do that because his teammates knew that his focus and work ethic was where it needed to be and respected him for it. I would have much rather had Gannon than Jay Feeble during the "Teflon Dave" era.

    My favorite Theismann quote:

"The word 'genius' isn't applicable in football. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein."

Gannon was as competitive and focused as anyone, but to say he was in the top 5 is clearly a reach (no pun intended) by Theisman. It's not so surprising though, as he tends to proclaim his latest man-crush every season on some unfortunate quarterback playing in ESPN's night game on Sunday. Let's make a constitutional amendment banning Joe from all athletic broadcasting.

Just think if he & Madden were doing a Packers vs. Pats game... Cleanup in the booth.

I'm shocked. We have a KC making a cameo. Hope things are well for ya.

I have some friends who are hard core golfers and would string you up for saying that. lol.

To get back on topic, Joey T could could almost make watching golf enjoyable.... Nah!

Actually, the DWO should be grateful to Joe Theismann. Had he not decided to go to the CFL, he would have been on the 72 Dolphins roster as a backup QB. It might have been Joe coming in instead of Earl Morrall when Griese injured his leg. How scary is that? On second thought, I'm sure it was Joe, but Divine Intervention that rescued that team.
