The team that leads the league in scoring does not make it to the Super Bowl.
I believe it was on the Highlights on NBC that revealed this interesting fact

The last seven:
06 - Chargers - Thought it would be a good idea to not give the ball to the best offensive player in the NFL against the Patriots. (7th defensively)
05 - Seahawks - Did this with zero wide receivers, making post season success nearly impossible (see Patriots from last season). (7th)
04 - Colts - No defense. (19th)
03 - Chiefs - Again, no defense. (19th)
02 - Chiefs again - No defense, again (28th)
01 - Rams - Made the Super Bowl, lost to Patriots. Its six of the last seven (7th)
00 - Rams again - No defense, again (31st, out of 31)
Patriots are number one offensively and number five on defense. There is no chance of a mental lapse by the coaching staff and there are no glaring holes on paper on either side of the ball. That makes them different from the other teams listed above. It is an interesting statistic, but if you dig a little deeper, the Patriots aren't like any other team that has led the league in scoring the last seven seasons. The 01 Rams being the team that doesn't fit the description I gave.
