Uefa president Michel Platini has criticised Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and other clubs who buy players at a young age.

Wenger is famous for investing in burgeoning talent and developing youngsters into major stars. But Platini is not a fan of his fellow Frenchman's strategy and said: "I do not like the system of Arsene Wenger. "In France, Italy and Spain it is easy to buy with money the best players at 14, 15 or 16. I don't like that." He added: "If the best clubs buy the best 15 or 16 players that is finished for all the clubs in Europe.

Platini is keen for countries to give one of their Champions League qualifying positions to the winners of the domestic cup competition and Uefa will hold a meeting on 12 November to discuss the proposal, among other options." The leagues are not so in favour of this proposal but the clubs and the national associations are more in favour of this. "But I am very open to everybody and what is good for football, not for me and my ideas but for football."

So basically he is having a go at Wenger for spotting young talent and making them world class. I'm sure Spain won't be too upset about taking Fabregas asa youth player and turning him into one of the worlds best will they. Same with Henry and France, Toure and Eboue with Ivorycoast.

I agree with him, and its not just Wengers fault. All the big clubs do this. So in turn that leaves all the small clubs, second league clubs with nothing, not stars.

Yeh but the smaller clubs get compensation for it. Then they can buy Players in their Prime.

I can see where your coming from. But from a country's point of view its better. Take Cesc for example. If he stayedat Barca he might get the odd cameo appearance but seeing as Wenger saw he was an excellent player he snapped him up. And due to injuries to Gilberto AND Viera he got a premature debut. And he has become amazing because of it. So what I'm saying is that Spain are probably thanking the gods for Wenger's vision and also Arsenal's excellent Scouts.

    Yeh i guess.

And i must admit i have only talked of young players going from Big club to Big club.

But must admit it must be heartreak for the smaller teams. Take Dan Gosling of Plymouth Argyle for example. Argyle loaned a young Chelsea player named Scott Sinclair for 6 months or so and Sinclair reported back to Mourinho and the youth team that Dan Gosling was an amazing talent (Which he is) Chelsea wanted to get him but Argyle wanted to keep him so bad that Chelsea said they wouldn't sign him untill he was a certain age. Now that seems a fair deal doesn't it? maybe that should be used for lets say all transfers of young players when the clubs aren't considered a majr footballing power.
