QUOTE

Two-time league MVP Tim Duncan has reached agreement with the San Antonio Spurs on a two-year contract extension, according to published reports.

Duncan, 31, has three years remaining on his current contract. The extension, which Yahoo.com reported is worth $40 million, would take the 10-time All-Star through the 2011-12 season.

    ...

Duncan could have signed for several millions more than the reported $40 million but, citing Duncan's agent, Lon Babby, Yahoo.com said the player wanted to allow the Spurs to build around him in future seasons.

Thats great that Duncan is thinking team first. He has already won championships, placed his name in the HOF, so let the team be able to build for the future, and I'm sure Duncan will stay there for two or three years (for less money of course) after the 2011-12 season.

Hm. Interesting. I'm curious as to when Duncan will start breaking down. The past couple years he's been great in that aspect...which is surprising, considering the previous 2 seasons.
