Oct 30 - Jarrett Jack will start at point guard tonight, Nate McMillan said, rounding out a starting lineup that also has Brandon Roy at shooting guard, Martell Webster at small forward, LaMarcus Aldridge at power forward and Joel Przybilla at center.

The Blazers exercised options that extended the contracts of Aldridge, Roy, Webster, Frye, Jack and Sergio Rodriguez by a year. The extensions keep the six players under contract through the 2008-09 season. -- The Oregonian

Jack definitely had the better stats in the preseason, but as Nate said, he did much of it at SG with Blake at PG. Still, Nate gave him the starting spot. Could he have another motive?

Maybe it's Jack's defense. Or maybe he likes that extra punch off the bench. Maybe he just wants the youngster to progress. Or it could be about Jack's chemistry with the other players.

In Seattle, Nate gave the start to Ridnour, even though Daniels is clearly the better all-around player. While he still gave good minutes to Daniels, Ridnour started, and my reasons stated above (minus defense) are all real possibilities.

Jarret Jack is very underrated. I don't look at him as a starter but definetly someone who can run a team for limited stretches.
