<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Denver Broncos linebacker Al Wilson scheduled a news conference Friday to announce he is being released by the Denver Broncos after eight seasons, sources said. Wilson called a 4 p.m. ET meeting with the media in Denver to discuss his future, which will not include the Broncos, the team that made him a No. 1 draft choice in 1999 and allowed him to grow into the leadership role on playoff caliber defenses.</div> http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2836410 Anyone know what exactly is wrong with him? Back Problems or is it something bigger because he playd with it last year? This is kind of a surprise to me. I new they wanted to trade him but even though he's decline he's still a solid linebacker in my opinion.
I thought they just couldn't get him to restructure his contract. Clearly the front office in Denver hasn't got a handle on the new salary cap figures. lol
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (blackadder)</div><div class='quotemain'>See post #2 as to whats wrong with Al W</div> Doesn't it seem a little bizarre that they'd cut him because of a thumb injury? I don?t know I just get the feeling that there is something bigger. Perhaps he ticked off Mike Shanahan? Wonder if a team like San Diego who needs an inside linebacker takes a look at bringing in him.
Neck injury appears to be the concern. He failed a physical with the Giants earlier this year that negated a potential trade. He says he wants to play a few more years, but only if he's fully healthy.
I hope Panthers pick him up. We are in need of LBs, espically Inside because we lost 2 in Chris Draft and Vinny Circiu. Panthers should have 6 million in cap space because of Carr on the roster.
He WILL end up in NYG BLue, I almost guarantee it. He wanted to bve traded there and I think tahts teh only team who has made so little moves and will pay him a sunstantial amount. Thios is all ofcourse if he switched to OLB
The Lions were also trying to get him in a deal for Dry Bly according to some reports. He would be a good fit there as well.
