Russell has been known to hold onto the ball for a long time. Quinn needs to step into his throws. How is the pressure/protection and who is/how far is the reciever? For all we know, I could be on the other end of it and trust me, I won't be able to catch a bullet pass from either of them without breaking a finger or two.

(obviously won't matter when he is behing the Oakland blades of grass O-line lol)
Here's something I didn't bring up that says Quinn is better than Russell IMO. Quinn has the ideal prototypical qualities a QB need in the NFL. He is a leader and commands respect in the huddle. He might not have a monster arm, but he can bench 225 lbs. 24 times, which is one more than Jay Cutler last year. He has better throwing mechanics also. He has great work ethic and watches game tapes of opponents defenses. He is also good at spreading the ball around and still has great stats despite only having Smardzija who is the only playmaker on the offense compared to LSU's. The only reason people bash Quinn is because they are afraid of looking at the positives. He was slated to become a heisman trophy candidate early in the season. The most notable is the fact that he cannot win big games. Sounds familiar to what Manning went through with the Colts. But if you compare them two, you have to look at the defenses. I'm not saying Quinn is as great as Peyton is but their defenses wasn't helping them. Quinn is 2-8 in big games but look at his stats. He threw for around 1600 yards, 13 TDs, and 7 INTS. If that doesn't lift any eyebrows, look at the defense, it allowed about an average of 35 points a game. And look at who they are compared to. Brady says he has been compared to another Brady, Tom. Charlie Weis thinks so also. And Russell has been compared to Daunte Culpepper. Some may think that's a good thing but it isn't. Daunte relied on his arm strength as well and that's how he churned out all of those INTs when he was with the Vikes. Isn't it that what JaMarcus does as well? He forces the ball into coverage and sometimes he gets credited when it is caught but pays the price when it is picked off. And last time I checked, Daunte is going to be released soon and he just isn't the same player as he was when Randy Moss left. You can look at the protection and durability as well. Now no one can go through a season behind the Raider's O-line in their rookie year and not get injured. When you look at the past injuries they both went through, Quinn has none reported in college but Russell has two. And Brady has been taking a beating behind ND's O-line, it may not be as bad as the Houston Texans but clearly not better than LSU's. JaMarcus has been sacked 15 times in his junior year. Think about it, 15 times! LSU plays in the SEC right? The O-line must be doing something right. Just think about the other players who shot up the boards because of one great year or had a cannon for an arm to get drafted early. Kyle Boller (jury still out) Rick Mirer Heath Shuler Akili Smith Ryan Leaf There are others but those stood out in my mind. Well that's my spheal. If it doesn't change anyone's minds I don't care because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'm done for now.

Plus Panthers are in huge needs of safeties because Minter is retiring and Salley was on the practice squad most of last year. I dont think Miller goes ahead of Olsen, Olsen ran like a 4.5 and Miller ran in the 4.85 range. Also, Bucs dont have the roster space for another QB. With Simms, Garcia, Rattay and Gradkowski defintly on the roster, and maybe plummer, they dont the space to pick him. They have more needs on that aging defense, espically at DE.
Here are my cents on Quinn vs Russell. I am not impressed by either and don' t think that this year 1st round QB's are as good as last year. Even if Brohm (Louisville) would've declared, it still would not be as good. Russell reminds me of Culpepper and will be either a incredible success or spectacular bust. I am so sick of the collective man crush on Brady Quinn that it makes me gag. Yeah, He did not have much talent but then Notre Dame's schedule isn't exactly tough outside of USC & Michigan. Brady does have all the intangibles but his career will determined depending on the system he is in. If you all recall, he was nothing special until Weis came along. Unless the Pats, Browns, or WCO team that relies more on the pass (Philly or Seattle) acquires him then Quinn won't live up to all this undue praise. Its funny, MK, that you should mention Rick Mirer. Because, I see BQ being the 2nd coming of Rick Mirer. If all goes well, he may have a Theisman like career. There is no way that he will be another Joe Montana.
