QUOTE (Brian)

Except back then Jerry Buss was running the show. This isn't the same as way back when. Jim Buss is running the show along with his puppet Mitch Kupchak. It has been said that Jerry Buss has been out of the loop for the past two years or so, if I remember correctly. I have no faith in this new management to get anything positive done, but we'll see what happenes.

I think you meant Jerry West, but keep in mind West didn't have to deal with the salary cap or luxury tax when he was Laker GM. Also both Kupchak and Jim Buss were mentored by Jerry West and still consult with him.

QUOTE (Mamba)

Pay the man or trade him. This whole thing is becoming a distraction and the Lakers are going to play crappy basketball if the distraction stays...and they'll play crappy basketball if we trade him. We f'd Kobe, now he's f'ing us.

This pretty much sums everything up. Kobe is going to screw up everything, the Lakers are going to get desperate of a trade and trade him for crap the same thing that happen in the Shaq case. The Laker management needs to step up and take charge of this team and fix all of there problems because if they don't then were going to get screwed if we don’t clean things up before its to late, or if its already too late......

I'm still not sure whether or not to believe this report. I believe you shape, when you said you heard it on the radio, but had it been true, I'm pretty sure we would have heard a couple of Kobe bashing articles already, or some report on a news site. But so far, nothing....

What's important is to just play basketball and win games. A lot of issues will take care of themselves if the Lakers get off to a good start or at least show they can compete until Odom is back and the team can play at full strength.

Should be up tomorrow, here's the link to his page.
http://allaccess.am570radio.com/danpatrick
After looking for the link the person who mentioned Kobe's money demands was Sam Smith from the Chicago Tribune.

Well now to think about it yea Kobe is not worth 30 mill a year naybe something can be worked out.

QUOTE (CelticKing)

Hopefully the Lakers don't make the same mistake they did when they traded Shaq for crap.
Kobe should bring them at least 3 better than average players.

I didn't think the Lakers traded Shaq for crap. They traded Caron Butler for crap afterwards

Thats the way I meant it lol. The aftermath of that trade was crap. Basically got Kwame for Shaq. haha

Yeah this sounds like another tactic to get traded, either pay me a ungodly ammount of money or i won't stop bitching. NO team can pay a player 30 mil a year and compete, unless foreign scouting was top notch. I say let him walk. I expect alot of GM's jumping at his doorstep to sign him, but I wonder what locker room would want to play alongside someone who whines as much as he has.

Its amazing that a player can score at that low of an efficiency.

If Kobe gets traded to a team that can contend... he wont be stupid enough to demand $30 a year... he'll say pay me what you would pay a star (which is 18 - 20M) then you sign other ballers so i can get another ring

You probably have never seen him play when he was in Miami.

He wasn't the All-Star caliber player he is now back then, but he definitely had a lot of upside. He was an All-American at UConn and a top 10 pick. One of the reasons Miami made the playoffs that season was when Butler returned from injury.
