If you look at the box scores on NBA.com, you'll notice two new statistical categories they have added: +/- and BA (blocks against, meaning how many times each player's shot has been blocked). I think it's pretty cool, although that +/- crap is so inaccurate and misleading. I think stateticians are crazy enough, so I'm usually not a big fan of adding more categories, but I think it's cool to see which players get swatted the most.</p>
I like the stat, but not so much with the + or -.</p> They just need to keep track of how many times it happens per game and overall.</p>
+/- is a good data point, but it is only a data point.</p> There are players that hurt their team when they are on the court because they give up more to the other team than what they contribute. Additionally some combinations just work better than others. That is why it is important to also have 2-man, 3-man, 4-man and 5-man +/- stats to analyze.</p>

The BA stat is gonna be funny. It'll be interesting to see Krstic lead the league in that category, once he gets more minutes.</p>
