Just curious, since I didn't see the game last night...would you say that he was outplayed or not in your opinion? Look, I'm not saying the guy doesn't give it his all BUT I here so much about how he adds to the team with his defense. However, when you turn around, yeah, he might hold a 20 point scorer to 15 and a 15 point scorer to 10 the bottom line is he's *still* out-scored, still out-rebounded, can pick but can't roll, can box out but doesn't get rebounds out to Kidd for the fast-break, fouls quite a lot for his minutes, can't shoot free-throws, can't finish around the hoop, doesn't block shots...and is generally from my pov just plain down-and-dirty is "out-played" (a subjective term, sure).

Speaking for myself, I'm not a big supporter of him being in the line-up. The way that I look at it (and yup, I recognize it's a team sport) is that you have five guys. If they outplay the man opposite them, the team will almost always win. For every team member that doesn't, the team has less of a chance.

What's your opinion on last night? I'm going to try and keep rough tally this season. I'm especially curious because this year the Netsie's do have other options. Why is taking this guy out of the line-up or reducing his minutes drastically such a no-no?

He looked good physically, trimmer than previous seasons. He did all those little things he does that contributes to wins.

I like what he did early on but when the Bulls got hot and they put him in it showed that the Nets were playing 4 on 5 on offense.

Watching the game, there's nothing he did better than Boone or Allen. Boone just had a shorter leash. Boone picked up a stupid foul in the fourth and got yanked. But Collins turns the ball over trying to hand-off to Kidd, and doesn't get yanked...

He can't dribble, doesn't roll to the basket (which Boone was doing great), and only had maybe one or two heads up plays (i.e. fouling Ben Wallace). The offense played best in the 2nd quarter, when he sat the whole time. Someone please run the +/- stats on him. Lot of interesting combos last night, I'd like to see which one worked the best.

Collins is going to be less effective against a team like Chicago, b/c they don't have a post presence on offense that is a big threat.

Collins looked pretty good out there. He was getting up and down the floor in a hurry, and like GM3 said, he looked good physically. Maybe it has to do with that awesome 'fro.

He did that a few times. Maybe Frank trusts that, like everyone else, he's trying to get used to this offense, which includes the ball in his hands alot more.

And the likelihood is that Frank is going to wanna keep Collins in the game more than Boone in future games. And it is also possible that Collins was having a hard time with this new offense.

Obviously, Frank trusts Collins more than the other bigs, which is a likely reason why Collins was allowed to stay in the game after making mistakes.

I doubt Collins is having trouble learning the offense - everyone on the team's said that he picks that stuff up faster than anyone else. The dropped passes were just Collins being Collins.

Charles hit the nail on the head though - Collins isn't going to look very good against the Bulls, as they don't really have any centers or power forwards with dangerous post games.

Something to consider, though: Ben Wallace had 5 rebounds in 37 minutes. That doesn't normally happen unless someone's keeping him out of the paint.
