With a trade down prediction 16th overall pick 78th overall(3rd rounder), and traded to New England for Number 24 and Number 28 as they move up to select one of the upper class players who have slipped(they're looking to score big this year justifying the trade up). This trade favors the packers by about 150 points. 1A)(24th pick, from New England)- Dwayne Bowe WR LSU- Bowe is the BPA at this point and also fills a need, may not make an immediate impact, but is an extremely well rounded prospect, who blocks and can be our big man to compliment both Jennings and Driver while providing a desperately needed spark to our Red zone offense. 1B)(28th pick, from New England)- Brian Leonard FB/HB Rutgers- High Character guy with great intangibles, perfect fit for the WCO offense as a FB and HB, isn't a smash up blocker but this isn't needed as much as receiving and running abillity in the WCO which he has both of. Will play both positions for us but settles on the official roster as a FB. 2(47th Pick)- HB Antonio Pittman Ohio State- Probably a little bit of bias here, but I think Pittman is another perfect fit for our scheme, he cuts hard and fast perfect for the Zone scheme we run. Has bumped his weight up to the low 200s and can afford about 10 more lbs without loss of speed. Forms a three headed monster with Vernand Morency and Leonard. 3(traded to New England) 4(112th pick)- John Wendling SS/FS Wyoming- Prospect who slips due to concerns about competition level, and fundamentals. Becomes steal of the draft here. Immediatley comes in and competes for starting job may not win it this year with Vets Marviel Underwood and the lack luster Marquand Manuel already experienced in the system. Has a nice range of skills and everything you look for in a starting safety. 5(157th)- Walter Thomas NT Northwest Mississippi Community College- Freakish nearly unknown Athlete who boasts a 370 pound frame with a 4.9 40 yard dash. Rawest of the raw, played in only a few games and college, may also have character issues. Thomas is basic a flyer pick based on potential and measurable alone. May turn out to be Manny Wright Mk-II. 6(193rd)-Brandon Frye T VA Tech- Solid Athletic Tackle, a possible project to develop along with Josh Bourke for Clifton's eventual replacement. 7A)(228th)- Ryan Smith CB Florida- Physical Athletic Corner who can come in and play Nickel, adds more competition for Will Blackmon, Patrick Dendy and Frank Walker at the Nickel/Dime spot. 7B)(235, New York Jets)- Herbert Taylor OT/OG Texas Christian- Another tackle/gaurd prospect for development, Fits the zone scheme perfect and has experience in ever position on the line could make for a very solid back up and spot starter someday. 7C)(243rd, Compensation)- Dallas Sartz LB USC- Tough player with good instincts, could become a special teams monster for us.
Not a horrible trade idea, but we'd better be getting a Patrick Willis or Darrelle Revis out of this.
thats actually what i figured, that one of those two would be there, along with possibility of Reggie Nelson as well.
