Jefferson signs

QUOTE

The Wolves just beat an 11 p.m. deadline and signed promising young forward Al Jefferson to a five-year, $65 million contract extension that will make the 22-year-old selected 15th overall in the 2004 NBA draft a very rich man starting next season. The deal will keep him a Timberwolf through 2013.

Great news for both Al and Wolves fans.

Awesome, I'm glad they got it out of the way and I'm glad they agreed on a reasonable deal before the deadline. The last thing they needed was to fail to come to an agreement and run the risk of other teams snatching him with a better offer.

The fact that he asked not to have a max deal is awesome. His reasoning behind it is even better. He says that it will help the Woves get more players and that he believes he hasn't earned a max deal yet. I love this kid.

He's all about the team and he's all about winning. He could have easily backed Minnesota into a corner and demanded a max deal. In fact, if Al was sleezy, he had Minnesota right where he wanted them. You guys will love him, and we will miss the hell out of him.
