Nov 1 - The Warriors announced Wednesday they will not pick up their third-year option on 7-foot center Patrick O'Bryant's contract, making O'Bryant an unrestricted free agent next summer.

O'Bryant, the ninth overall pick in the 2006 draft, appeared in 16 games as a rookie last season, when he bounced between the Warriors and Bakersfield of the NBA Development League. He had two points and two rebounds in five minutes of action during Tuesday night's 117-96 loss to Utah.

Earlier in the week, O'Bryant's agent, Andy Miller, had said he expected the Warriors to pick up their option for the 2008-09 season, when O'Bryant's salary would have climbed to $2.37 million. -- San Francisco Chronicle

[*]"As I told Patrick, this does not mean the door is shut in regards to his future with the Warriors," executive vice president Chris Mullin said in a statement released by the team. "We will have another year to evaluate his progress and keep all of our options open for next summer." -- Contra Costa Times

The Warriors are just not developing this guy right... We basically drafted him for nothing then...

Dammit... either Cohan is getting cheap or the Warriors and Nelson don't know what the hell they are doing. This franchise is making me sick again. First they overpay a bunch of bums and now they won't even pay anything to keep basic talent with lots of potential. And you know we're talking about a backup center here for 2 mil... He'll at least play better than Adonal Foyle. Jeez. Already two games in and I can feel this franchise sitting on their brains and trying not to fart. Do these guys want to have any backup center? They can't tell me that Kosta Perovic or whoever they get from free agency is going to be better... Ug...

Anyone know if this team is for sale? First, we think they're being fiscally responsible after the whole Fish/Foyle/Dun/Murph debacles, but now they just getting cheap. Baron is playing for a contract, Biedrins is not extended, and now POB isn't extended. Is there a Cohan sale of the team coming up or something? Jeez. In that case do whatever we have to do to ship the crap owner out just as long as the team stays here and has a chance of winning a ring.

Also... Croshere and Hudson over POB and Belinelli sounds like Montyball to me (that's who he had activated before the injuries), the difference is rather than going big we go smaller and smaller in our front court and middle. Nelly is losing it or he's throwing games on purpose over this whole Pietrus thing. He better play Wright soon or I've given up on any kind of hope I had for developing star post players here. I knew Nelly was going to be overrated once we had some decent big men prospects.
