Updates Day 1 1:30 CT- Bills Select RB Lynch. Now because the Packers are almost on the board I start thinking. What RB is out in the board still. The positions, RB, TE, WR, DB come to my mind. The Packers can grab a RB in the 2nd round, like Pittman. The Packers can try to trade down and get more picks. This will be an exciting period of picks. 2:16 CT- Packers select a, DT?! Whats with that. We need people on offense. Second round better be alot better than that pick. Defense? We are okay at the front... 6:13 CT- I think the packers should take either Kenny Irons or Antonio Pittman in the 2nd round. Updates Day 2 8:39 am CT - Packers should take either RB Antonio Pittman, or CB Tanard Jackson with the 112 pick in the draft. I hated Day 1. I give it a C-. 10:40-10:55 am CT - Packers didn't trade up to get Pittman or Jackson. That angers me. Who is worth this pick? How about K Mason Crosby, or TE Ben Patrick? Why do we keep trading. 12:59 CT - Packers select a WR. I like the fact we are trying to get some WR. I want the next 3 consecutive picks to STAY as the Packers. Draft a WR, RB, and a TE all in three picks. Unless we get a trade for a good PLAYER for one two or all of the picks. 2:26 CT - Packers select 2 LB. I understand that but I think only take one LB and then get a offensive guy. Im happy with Crosby being picked! My favorite pick so far. Finally they draft a guy I like. Packers Needs RB 2 WR 2 TE 0 DB 1 FB 0 Packers DONT <strike>Needs</strike> DL 1 LB 2 OL 1 QB 0 P 0 K 1 What I like? 1. K Crosby leg 2. LB Hall for special teams and backup. 3. Getting Multiple RB and WR. What I don't like? 1. Drafting a DEFENSE player in the first round where we needed an OFFENSE player! 2. Trading away picks. 3. Not drafting one (or more) of the following in time, RB Pittman, RB Irons, TE Ben Patrick, WR Anthony Gonzalez, FB Brian Leonard. Grade Day 1 = C- Day 2 = C
I was worried about the Bills taking Lynch and I was so pissed when they did. At that point, I was hoping that Thompson would trade down with New England since New England had two first rounders and a bunch of later round picks they could have used to balance things out. I'm guessing the guy we took would have still been there when New England picked. And why we picked the third rated DT in the draft rather than the best Tight End or the 2nd Best Wide Receiver I have no idea. Like I said in the other thread, only time will tell if this first round was a good one for Green Bay. I'm skeptical, of course, but I've been wrong before. I guess we wait and see...
Harrell isn't a bad pick and if he stayed healthy he probably would've been a top 20 pick. I prefer him over Branch because he is a safer pick. What's confusing is the Packers already have Corey Williams who I think is solid. Pickett is a NT and Jenkins can move inside on downs as well with Kampman and KGB. Hopefully they move someone now as I just see to much room at one position. I would of went with Nelson or Olsen with that pick. Probably Nelson.
Just wait. Lol. I have my bat ready just in case he pisses me off. They said something about getting details for trade soon. Edit: Did we get 3 picks? I think we did...
It looks like we traded down to 31st in the 2nd round and picked up at least another 3rd. Edit: And an extra 6th rounder as well.
why the hell do we take a back who has never EVER carried the full load in college? When Pittman and Tanard Jackson are sitting right there on the board?
the only moderately good one IMO is Rouse but i have serious doubts about his coverage ability so who knows.
With all due respect some of you called Greg Jennings the next Antonio Chatman last year. Let?s wait and see before we give up on the players already. I'm not thrilled by the draft but the only pick that I absolutely hate is taking Jones with Paul Williams still on the board. The rest okay. Harrell is an okay pick and it makes a lot of sense when I think about it. A strong DT tandem with Pickett and Harrell would allow Barnett and Hawk make a lot more plays. If he stayed healthy he would of been right up there with Okoye as the #1 DT. If he can come back from his injury I think this could turn out as a great pick. Jackson is a pick I wasn't to fond of. I wanted Pittman instead. FP, your a Buckeye fan so your probably throwing darts at a picture of TT for passing on him but after hearing what Chris Mortenson said about him I feel much better. That fact that he'll stay hours after practices to get his technique down shows he cares which to me means a lot. With that said I know he has potential but I worry about the immediate impact he can have. Hopefully this is the case of our lineman improving in the zone blocking to where we can make an average guy look good. James Jones was a bad pick in my opinion. I think it's a big reach and I rather of traded the pick for Randy Moss then select a guy who really doesn't seem to have much upside. Aaron Rouse was my favorite pick of their draft. He's big and physical and was all over the place when I watched him at the Senior Bowl. I think he should replace Manuel. I?d give Day 1 a C. I thought it was average and not special but it's way to early to judge. I'll tell you in two years when I have a 100% certainity on it. What scares me is the fact that the Lions and Vikings both got two of the three best players in the Draft. I can't see AP or Johnson being busts in the NFL.
