QUOTE

The Suns' window of opportunity to win a championship is a delicate topic in their circle. They either don't agree with the notion that time is running out with 33-year-old point guard Steve Nash or won't acknowledge it. But the man who recently questioned Lakers guard Kobe Bryant's effort does not tread so lightly. "They (the Suns) have got a window that's closing really fast," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said before Friday night's game. "If they don't get a championship, they've missed an opportunity." Suns coach Mike D'Antoni is just happy that his team has a window. "We don't have a window closing," D'Antoni said. "What's fast? Four years? Four or five years? Steve is going to play for four, five more years." Jackson said his mention of a closing window referred to the Suns' style and how Nash can be worn out because of it. "He's the engine that could," Jackson said of Nash. "He does a terrific job of being able to play, and it's apparent in his condition and endurance."

Source: AZCentral
D'Antoni stirred up the hornets nest I don't think he wants to get into a war of words with PJax. This is turning into a great rivalry and hopefully the Lakers can close the gap and overtake them when it really counts. I can't wait for the XMAS showdown and more zingers coming from Phil.

Honestly, I have to agree with Phil here. The Suns have a great team, but they've proven time and again that they're an awful team without Nash. The older he gets, the more injury prone he gets and the more difficult it's going to be for him to play long minutes. He may be able to play another four or five years, but I highly doubt he'll be able to continue to play at this level.

Agreed, I've felt this way for the last 2 years. The Suns have a good team, but without Nash they are lost. HIs back isn't in top shape and time is running out. I know it's still early in the season, but Nash does not look like the Nash from his MVP reign or even last year, all those turnovers. I think these next two years will be a downward spiral for the Suns. Even if they do pick up the pace, their short rotation will keep them out of the finals. Lakers outbenched them last night and played some pretty top notch defense.
As a rule of thumb, I don't think it's very mature for Jackson to be casting aspersions on other teams unless he's at least doing as well as they are. If you want to talk about a closing window, how about squandering the prime of Kobe Bryant's career? That's got to be up there.

I'd say that's a byproduct of Kobe's max deal and the front office not having a gameplan post-Shaq Era. Afterall, Kobe has 3 rings playing under Phil Jackson and was a vital player in each of those titles. We don't even know when Kobe's prime will be done until he seriously declines. I think he's better now than he's ever been.

I do have to agree with the window closing on the Suns there Fast Break offense isn't as good last night and in the playoffs it's not ok neither because teams can adjustments on their defense to stop the offense. And yes Steve Nash is running out of timeI think he should retire when his contract expires he has done a fantastic job but it hasn't paid off for him yet.
