Nov 5 - If and whenever the Cavs sign holdout Anderson Varejao, a league source said the Cavs will have another issue with which to deal.

While Sasha Pavlovic worked out twice a day during his holdout, Varejao apparently is out of shape and enjoying his extended vacation in Brazil. -- Cleveland Plain Dealer

That could be a ploy by him to try to get a contract sooner. Because at this rate, by the time the contract is signed and he's back into shape, we'll quite possibly be past the New Year, or even around the All-Star break. Pretty unprofessional if you ask me - he is showing no desire to actually want to play.

The best thing would be for the Cavs not to sign him. Even if he ends up saying that he would come for a million per year, let him get fat.

He said that if the Cavs don't meet his demands, he would return for a qualifying offer but would then definitely leave next summer. I'm not sure if they could even make a qualifying offer now (can anyone who knows more about the CBA clarify?), but regardless of whether they can or can't, they shouldn't. Why would you want a player who resents you and wants to leave?

True and he could be a menace in the locker room if he was to stay only for a year. He wouldn't care what happened.

They already made the QO. Andy can accept it at any time.

Thanks for clarifying cpaw, but I honestly hope he doesn't accept it, seeing as that would lead to him leaving next year. This could turn into another Carlos <strike>Loozer</strike> Boozer situation, leading the Cavs fans to hate him. I hope not, but if it ends up that way, he deserves everything he gets. He'd be getting paid millions of dollars to play the game he loves but he refuses. It's ridiculous. If any of you follow soccer (EPL), the salary he's asking for ($10 million ~ £5 million), that's prety much on a par with Rio Ferdinand or Wayne Rooney. He is certainly not that good.

3 to 5 million is what he should get the most for 3 years top.

I think he's probably worth around the MLE but not a lot more. Ferry seems to agree with me, but Andy doesn't, so he won't sign. A shame really.
