Here are this week's questions. Remember, the new rules are that you no longer need to submit your questions, and no winners will be declared. We're just doing this for fun and to honor the forgotten world of wrestling history. 1. WrestleMania III was such a success that Vince McMahon wanted to sustain the momentum of 1987 with a new PPV show on Thanksgiving. As chance would have it (yeah right), Vince’s competitor, Jim Crockett, was planning his annual NWA Starrcade show on the same day. It would be the NWA’s first PPV ever, and they were banking on making millions that day to keep the company afloat and pay some inflated contracts the top wrestlers had. What was planned to be the NWA’s savior show ended up being the beginning of its demise. Cable companies aired the WWF show instead, and Crocket was sh*t out of luck. In the main event at SS ’87, Team Hogan faced off against Team Andre. What 5 guys were on Team Hogan? (Incredibly obvious hint: Hogan was one of them) 2. With my parents vacationing in Mexico, I spent Thanksgiving of 1988 at my (very) Italian grandparents’ house. I’ll never forget my uncle being amazed at the Rockers, saying in his thick accent, “These-a two-a guys are-a ath-a-letes-a.” That tag team survivors match was very long, and excellent. Unfortunately, it was a backdrop for a pretty weak angle, thanks to the underwhelming performance of Mr. Fuji. What did Fuji do in that angle? 3. My memories of Survivor Series ’89 are still a little fuzzy, probably because we were still shaken up by the 7.1 earthquake that demolished the Bay Area a month earlier. Damn that was scary. Anyway, Team Heenan included Bobby Heenan actually wrestling. It wasn't supposed to be that way, however. Heenan was replacing what recently fired wrestler? 4. Survivor Series ’90 was the year of the Gobbledy Gooker, whose legend has grown to Ding Dongs-like proportions (for those who don’t remember 1990, that’s not a good thing). It was a disaster, which poor Gene Okerlund had to sell. In better news, the show featured the debut of a wrestler whose gimmick was so awesome and believable that people were just stunned in silence. He went on to become a legend who is still on top today. Who was it? 5. By the time SS ’91 happened, wrestling fans were still buzzing over the fact that Ric Flair had just come to the WWF. It’s mind boggling to me that back then, the WWF didn’t do that match at WrestleMania VIII. They never did the match on PPV at all, instead saving it for a house show run that did decent business. Flair didn’t wrestle at Survivor Series ’91, but he played a pivotal role. What was his involvement in the Hogan vs. Undertaker WWF title match? 6. Survivor Series ’92 was strange. The WWF was scandal ridden, and physiques were suddenly shrinking (just like this past summer). For about 2 weeks, Vince was gung-ho about promoting pure wrestling. Long before Montreal and “Wrestling with Shadows,” Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels headlined a PPV for the WWF title, and it was on this show. The match was ****+, although it lacked the expected fast-paced, high flying action. Still, it was not the focal point of the show. The “real” main event was a tag team match, featuring the long-awaited return of what wrestler? 7. If you ever want to see the deadest crowd in history, watch the undercard match at Survivor Series '93 between two regional tag teams that no one in the building knew. That's too bad, because one of the teams was legendary, but not to the casual WWF audience. Not only that, but these 4 guys put on a very good match. But you could hear a pin drop in that building as they were putting on a tag tea clinic. What regional promotion was featured in this match on the undercard of SS '93? questions from wrestlingobserver.com</p>
