Y2J's WWE Return Update, Val Venis & Ron Paul, More Notes

 - Political blog The Trail has a mention of WWE superstar Sean "Val Venis" Morley in a recent update. Morley is a supporter of Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul. The former WWE Intercontinental champion tells The Trail: "I can't really say what my support means. But, you know, I first heard about him two years ago, and I've studied his voting record and I'm convinced that more than any candidate, Republican or Democrat, he's the most principled candidate out there. By the way, I'm at Denny's outside LAX. Here for a fight later tonight. I'm wearing a Ron Paul T-shirt. It's a great day for Ron Paul, you know." Morley, who is a Libertarian hasn't donated money to Paul's campaign because he's Canadian and working on getting his American citizenship."But I'm still wearing the T-shirts," Morley said, "blogging about him, telling everyone I know. He's surprising everyone."

It should be noted that WWE superstar Glen "Kane" Jacobs is also a supporter of Ron Paul's.

- Kyle sent the following: On the Opie and Anthony show yesterday morning, they were talking about the argument Jericho got into with Jim Norton last Friday. I'm not sure how credible this is, but Opie said that Chris Jericho told him off-air that he was going back to WWE after his book tour was over. And when I thought about it, the way Jericho talked in the original interview and other ones recently, he was kind of teasing something big after the tour was over.

Big ECW/SD Tapings Tonight, Returns, Punk/SD, More News


 - Tonight's ECW Sci-Fi broadcast and the SmackDown tapings will be held in Bakersfield, CA. On ECW, champion CM Punk will defend his title against the former champion John Morrison. ECW.com's preview hints at more with Mark Henry and the SmackDown/ECW talent exchange. It'll be interesting to see how Extreme Expose is used seeing as how Kelly Kelly may be kept off TV to sell her the squash loss to Beth Phoenix on RAW and with the release of Brooke. We should also see The Boogeyman in action.

Confirmed for SmackDown is the main event of The Undertaker and Batista taking on Mark Henry and The Great Khali in a rematch. In another rematch, we will see Finlay take on Rey Mysterio. It's also believed we will see the return of Chavo Guerrero and Matt Hardy, who has been out of ring action since getting busted open. Also, ECW Champion CM Punk will be on SmackDown this week.

Don't look for Deuce & Domino or Cherry to be at the tapings tonight as they will be making a special appearance at Florida Championship Wrestling show tonight.

News From Tonight’s SmackDown/ECW Taping, More

 WWE will be taping Friday Night SmackDown and ECW on Sci Fi tonight in Bakersfield, California.

Scheduled for Friday Night SmackDown is The Undertaker vs. The Great Khali, Rey Mysterio vs. Finlay, WWE Tag-Team Champions, MVP & Matt Hardy will be defending their titles and for the first time ever, ECW World Champion CM Punk will be on SmackDown.

One match is confirmed for ECW on Sci Fi. ECW Champion CM Punk is scheduled to defend his Championship against John Morrison. Also expect Superstars from the WWE SmackDown brand to be appearing on ECW.

Former WCW Star On Trial, The Rock Update, More

FOX 5 Atlanta has a video up on their website on the federal trial of former WCW wrestler "Hardbody" Harrison Norris. He is currently acing sex trafficking charges for allegedly running a prostitution ring.

Due to the writer's strike, this week’s edition of Saturday Night Live, which Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was scheduled to host has definitely been cancelled. Both NBC and SNL creator Lorne Michaels has stated that the show will no longer take place.

Jericho Says His Return Will Be On His Terms, More

Chris Jericho on the Joe McDonnell Experience

Former undisputed WWE World Champion Chris Jericho called into the Joe McDonnell Experience on KLAC AM 570 on Monday night to promote his book “A Lion’s Tale: Around the World in Spandex” as well as to talk about several other topics. The interview is available for download for podcasting at http://www.am570radio.com. These are some of the highlights from the interview.

- In the opening, Joe and Chris talked about Chris’ new hairstyle and he admitted that for years he was wearing a wig in the ring. Joe, in a joking manner, pointed out that it was definitely one of the ways that wrestlers protected each other in the ring. This also gave Chris a chance to relate a very funny anecdote relating to his other favorite sport, hockey. Chris said that one night he was at a hockey game and saw Bobby Hull get into a fight. During the fight the other player ripped a piece of Hull’s weave out of his hair and the next thing he knew Hull was beating the crap out of the other guy.

- Chris said that the book, which is currently number-two on the Amazon.com non-fiction sales list, covered his career up to his arrival in WWE. He said that he wanted to tell the story about how his travels throughout the various promotions in Mexico, Japan, Germany and America helped give him valuable experience that would help him later in his career and that the book ends with his arrival in WWE.

- Chris also talked about a rather scary experience he had with some members of the Yakuza during some drunken mischief that involved a flower pot that he threw up in the air and broke.

- He also brought up a rather embarrassing moment that occurred when he was a kid. He said that one Sunday when he was about ten he went to church and the minister brought him up in front of church and when he announced that Chris wanted to be a wrestler that the whole congregation laughed at him.

- Jericho also said that he was still somewhat “old school” in his approach to the business due to the fact that he never used the book to bury anyone but to talk about what brought him to the top of the business.

- When the conversation turned to Chris Benoit, Jericho said that everything that happened in regards to that is still with him to this day. He talked about the fact that Benoit pretty much was not just a mentor to him, but that he was also like a big brother. In fact, early in Jericho’s career he was nearly booked as Benoit’s brother and was going to form a tag team with him and he was going to be called Rob Benoit. In fact, Jericho said that he finished the book a month before the tragedy happened and was torn about whether or not to delete any references to Benoit. However, he kept it in because he was able to separate the Benoit that did those horrific things from the one that was his friend. Also, he dedicated a special forward to the “Rabid Wolverine”.

- Joe then asked Chris whether or not he was coming back to WWE. All Jericho said was that when he quit the business a few years ago that he pretty much had been burned out, but that his time away has rejuvenated his batteries and that when, and if, he returns it will be on his own terms.

There also was a lot of talk about an incident that happened between Chris and a Dave Samenko (who Joe also had a run in with) and Chris promoted his appearances Wednesday night at Borders in Torrance and Thursday night at Book Soup in West Hollywood and his careers in movies, music and comedy. This definitely was a great interview.

 World Wrestling Entertainment released the following press release regarding the line-ups for this weekend’s WWE tour of Australia:

-- Chris Jericho will be celebrating his 37th birthday on November 9th. A party has been scheduled for tomorrow at the Mood Supperclub in Hollywood, California from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. If you are interested in attending you can email guestlist@lushonline.com. It should also be noted that tonight’s SmackDown/ECW taping is in Bakersfield, California which is only an hour drive from Hollywood.

-- As we reported yesterday several WWE superstars were on Family Feud yesterday. When asked "Name something that gets pumped up," one of the women said, "Lips." All of the male wrestlers answered questions by relating them to wrestling and using business terms, but in the end the female superstars won.

-- Friday's edition of WWE SmackDown did a 2.8 broadcast rating. This is the shows best number in several weeks.

-- Right now the current plan in WWE is to hold off on Chris Jericho's return until after Survivor Series. They want to continue to run the viral marketing campaign which helps continue to draw higher ratings to RAW with much anticipation of his return. Survivor Series will take place on November 18th at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.

Shocking Details on Ex-WCW Star's Sex Trafficking Charges

 - As posted this morning, MyFoxAtlanta.com has an article up this morning with an update on former WCW star Hardbody Harrison's legal troubles. Harrison is currently on trial in federal court on sex trafficking charges. He was arrested in 2005 after three women said he held them against their will and forced them into prostitution. Harrison, real name Harrison Norris, claims he was just trying to help the girls and that he is the real victim. He claims the girls were prostitutes when he met them and took them off the street to train them as professional wrestlers.

Norris is acting as his own legal representation in the jury trial. One woman testified yesterday that he literally grabbed her off the street one day, held her at his home and forced her into prostitution. Currently their are three women making allegations against the former WCW star and five more are expected to be called as witnesses in the federal trial that is expected to last two and a half weeks. If found guilty, Norris faces life in prison.

WWE Going Back to One Single Brand? Vader Update, More

- Former WWE Hall of Famer Blackjack Mulligan is recovering from a stroke he recently had. Blackjack temporarily lost vision in his left eye and control of the left side of his face.

- Former WCW and WWF superstar Big Van Vader recently had hip replacement surgery and is expected to make a full recovery by early next year. Apparently Vader waited until he had retired from professional wrestling before he had the surgery.

- Some of those who are in power within WWE want to change the company back to one single brand. It appears WWE could be swinging that way some as we've seen a lot of inter-brand matches and angles in the past few weeks.

Sci-Fi's Beef With WWE, Tammy Sytch News, More Notes

- Tammy Sytch is said to be close to the shape she was in during her "Sunny" days and is doing much better these days. She and her boyfriend John have recently bought a new home in New Jersey. She has recently worked a few shows in the Northeast promotions and a few wrestling fan conventions. At one recent Fan Festival, a fan dropped to the floor in an epileptic seizure and Tammy jumped from her signing booth and assisted the person until medical personal could get there.

- For the month of August, WWE averaged 5, 352 fans at their live events with an average gate of $165,912 with numerous official sellouts.

- One of the Sci-Fi Network's beefs with WWE is that the weekly ECW program doesn't feature any Sci-Fi related content. Apparently in the deal that WWE and the Network originally signed, WWE promised to include Sci-Fi content.

-- WWE is releasing a Jeff Hardy teddy bear just in time for the Christmas season. The bear will be complete with long pink hair.

-- WWE Hall of Famer George Steele will be appearing at the Boston Megafest pop culture convention on November 17th and 18th in Framingham, MA.

-- Dawn Marie, Dan Severn and Missy Hyatt will be appearing at the Big Apple Comic Con the same weekend in New York City.

- Bill Goldberg's wife Wanda will be starting a syndicated show on Pet Care which will debut in January.

- Stacy Keibler recently celebrated her 28th birthday at Vegas hotspot LAX.

- Bret Hart recently stated in an interview on Wrestling Observer Live that Vince McMahon approached him this past Summer about doing a follow up to the Bret Hart Story DVD that was released by WWE. The former WWF and WCW Champion said he wished the match with The Undertaker from SummerSlam 1997 would have been on the first DVD, along with more of his matches from the Stampede Wrestling days.

- Since the release of Kristal Marshall, it appears the storyline with Vickie Guerrero has been dropped. The original storyline plan was for Vickie and Kristal to find out Teddy Long had a heart condition and for the two to work together to get Teddy to take Viagra which would trigger a heart attack and put him out of action, so Vickie could be the lone General Manager of SmackDown. Now it appears Vickie will simply be a babyface GM that stands up to the male wrestlers.

There's still no word yet on what they will do with Teddy Long. The health updates on WWE.com stopped after just a week or so. Long was assured that he wouldn't be dropped as a TV character.

- Congress recently sent letters to a number of WWE superstars regarding steroids and such. The main question being asked is if Vince McMahon ever told them to take steroids. It doesn't look like the previously planned Congressional hearings on pro wrestling will be happening after all, as the current Congress session ends in a week or so and it's not on any schedule for the hearings.

- Al Snow is now engaged to former WWF Hardcore Champion Cynthia "Bobcat" Lynch who used to be one of The Godfather's "Ho's" when she won the Hardcore title from Crash Holly in 2000. She is currently working for the Women Extreme Wrestling promotion and Al is still training WWE developmental talents.

Well since he's book signing will be done by November 15, the idea was for him to return right after Survivor Series on Raw. Hopefully this will happen. And the reason why he hasn't returned yet was because he's return was supposed to be a suprise, but since WWE messed up by giving these Y2J return videos they have to have him wait a little more. Since pretty much everyone knows that those vidoes are mean't for him now.

LOL yh gr8 surprise no1 has seen it coming he all return it all be gr8 to see him bak and all but what are the plans for a 36 year old Jericho they could dump the WWE title on him or somtin im not seein there idea
