"Canes are always a tough one for the Hoos, but I think we got more talent than they do right now, especially on D.
There were a lot of seasons when us Hoos fans didn't really feel bad after losing a game to Miami. UVA aint supposed to beat Miami ! On the other hand, those few occaisions when UVA snuck in a W, it was the biggest deal on Earth, especially in C'ville. ESPN would lead with that game's hi-lites. Same holds true of FSU.
So, yeah I'll be down if we lose this one.
GO HOOS

maybe this is a VA thing, but what the heck are hoos and what are hokies. Never understood that one

'Hoos, is short for Wahoos. Back in the 20's UVA's team returned from a big win on the road. The whole town showed up to meet the train, and, as the story goes, everyone began shouting "WAHOO"!
Somehow it managed to stick.
As for the Hokie, well, a Hokie is a castrated male turkey. Apparently castration made them bigger and more muscular. To eat.
I'm not "from" Virginia but I've lived here for nearly 30 years and I don't get why you'd call a team "Hokies"
The word has 2 meanings, and both are bad.

Castrated turkey is in urban dictionary online. Even as a Tech fan, I haven't heard that anywhere else. It had really no meaning. Techexplains ithere

Well, I guess if my schools mascot was a castrated turkey, I'd invent some story to put on-line too !
GO HOOS
