Spasms sideline Posey

QUOTE

The man walked slowly, hunched over and looking like he was in a lot of pain. No, this wasn't an elderly man with failing health. Rather, this was injured Celtics forward James Posey.

Posey headed to the locker room with about six minutes remaining before halftime with lower-back spasms during the 119-93 victory over the Nuggets last night at TD Banknorth Garden. The first-year Celtic didn't return to the game and is expected to have an MRI today.

Posey declined comment on the injury afterward, saying he'd prefer to talk today.

"His lower back, he said it just went out," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. "And they're going to do an MRI [today]. Obviously, I'm extremely concerned. We need him. He does so many little things, taking charges, just his leadership and his voice."

Hopefully it's nothing because I think Posey is just about as important to this team as anybody else on the roster besides the big 3.

True, we need him the most down the stretch, probably our best defender. (together with kg)

This really sucks. Posey brings a lot to this team, it would be a shame to see him out for an extended period of time.
