Nov 8 - A major concern was how long it will be before forward Nene again plays. He suffered a sprained left thumb in the first quarter, and there were indications it could be serious.

Nene flew back to Denver after the game. Though preliminary X-rays were negative, he will see a hand specialist today and will undergo a magnetic resonance imaging exam.

"I'm worried," George Karl said of Nene, who will remain in Denver while the Nuggets complete their trip Friday at Washington and Saturday at Indiana. -- Rocky Mountain News

Since this is Nene, it likely means that it will take double the time of a normal person to come back from this injury.

He hasn't broken his apetite yet. Seriously, unless Bobby Jones and Steven Hunter step up, the Nuggets are in deep trouble now. I recently pointed out that Camby without another big man who can take a pounding is not all that good a defense. And before the season even started, I said the Nuggets were not going to cut it if Nene is not available. Everything I warn about is happening, damn it.
