Celtics forward James Posey suffered lower back spasms after colliding with a penetrating J.R. Smith in the second quarter of last night's 119-93 victory over the Denver Nuggets. No official word has been released about how serious this is or the timetable for his return, but according to RealGM.com, he is listed as day-to-day:

QUOTE

The Boston Celtics announced on Thursday that forward James Posey is experiencing low back spasms as a result of a lumbar disc herniation confirmed by MRI at New England Baptist Hospital. He is undergoing appropriate treatment by the medical staff and is listed as day-to-day. Posey sustained the injury during the second quarter of last night’s game against the Denver Nuggets at the TD Banknorth Garden.

Greg Dickerson of Comcast Sports Net New England, also Celtics sideline reporter, mentioned on "Sports Tonight" that he spoke with Doc Rivers about this situation, who stated that Posey is not expected to suit up tomorrow night against Atlanta and is doubtful for Saturday's game in New Jersey.
Get well soon, James, but don't rush a return.

This means Pierce will likely play around 40-42 mpg, which I'm not too fond of, and Doc might go small with a little TA at the 3. It'll be interesting to see what Doc does against a big wing rotation like Atlanta's.

QUOTE (CelticKing)

How about Big Baby? lol

Against a smaller team like Atlanta, who likes to get up and down, I think we should see Powe tomorrow night. Then again, I felt Powe should have played against Denver as well.
