QUOTE (Fred)

LJ best season is like all of Barber's season's combined. Barber isn't even the full time starter. I dont see how its comparable. Only a relative of barber or a homer cowboys fan would believe that

Oh ok. So you wanna include past season's into your conversations on who's the best
...and then also talk about a rookie. There's gotta be consistency here. If we're talking about who's great now, then backs like LJ and Stephen Jackson drop because they're having mediocre to poor years. If we're talking about the span of 5 years, then All Day should drop out of everyone's top 5, as should Barber.

You do realize LJ is injured this year right? and thats why his numbers are down?
If you want consitency just look at the numbers when LJ took over as starter. They don't lie. He might have gotten a ton of carries but his YPG is very high for someone who gets a lot. He got over 5 ypg one year. Like I said one of LJs years equals all of Barbers in the league. He's also a better reciever. I dont even know why I'm defending LJ as a better back. i dont even like that guy

If not, then he isn't. No one here is defending LJ's performance this year (or lack there of).

so basically you're argument is that Barber is better THIS year. Uh...no shit, he's actually playing. Of course he's going to be "better" lol.

:-D
...which is why when I made this post and put Marion in front of LJ I wasn't being a homer. Ladies and Gentlemen enjoy the veal I'll be here all night!

Jigga, I have to agree with Fred on this. The question was about who was the better running back, talent and production wise. This takes everything into consideration..

Which is why in this post I make the destinction that if we're talking about this year then Barber gets that #3 spot, and if we're "taking everything into consideration" (I mention a 5 year window) than he doesn't.

Also, look at the last 2 years. LJ was healthy last year, played full time and everything. Counting this year and last year, Barber is tied for second in TD's with LJ. LT is first. AND, Barber was splitting time.

And he was getting strictly goal line/3rd down carries. Of course, he's going to be scoring a lot of TD's.

QUOTE (Chutney)

And he was getting strictly goal line/3rd down carries. Brandon Jacobs got more TDs than Tiki because they always put him on the goalline. It doesn't mean Jacobs is the better back

QUOTE (Fred)

Brandon Jacobs got more TDs than Tiki because they always put him on the goalline. Regardless I don't see how either situation relates to our conversation about Marion Barber this year.
We've already established that Barber is one of the top backs this season, and if we're talking about a wider scope he's not top 3, but is still pretty damn good and comparable to the best

I just don't understand what all these arguments are about. You're saying that Marion's been the better RB this year. Well duh. That's fairly obvious and a simple look at their statistics would prove that. And Shake pointed out the touchdown totals over the past two years. Again, what's the point in that. That doesn't necessarily say anything about which back is better (especially when you consider how Barber was used).

So if one year doesn't say which back is better then why are we having this conversation?
All I did was defend my opinion as being a non-homer one.

I'm assuming we've been talking about which backs are the best, in general (all the posts before this suggested that). Talking about who's been the best this season is a fairly straightforward topic.

I thought the question asked was pretty clear. I guess next time I should be a little a bit more clear. Because anyone in their right mind would not put Barber as a top 3 back in the NFL, this year or any year

QUOTE (Fred)

you turned the topic into "this year". nobody else did.

Not I, good sir. That privilege is reserved to those who introduced Adrian Peterson.
